Show Vises Crash Ute 38-S Uintah made Pleasant Grove's Homecoming game very unpleasant for the first six minutes but when the Vikes started to roll, it was the Utes who wanted the final gun to sound. After trailing 0-6 without having touched the ball, Pleasant Grove stormed back to crush the Utes 38-6 Friday in front of a sundrenched crowd in Viking Stadium. Uintah took the opening kickoff and drove 64 yards with Pat Jenkins tossing a scoring pass to Mike Lance from seven yards out. Lance ran a quick slant from the right side and caught the touchdown pass in front of the shorter defender. Jenkins, 167 pound State Champion Wrestler, kept the drive alive three times with fine runs on a surprising quarterback draw play that caught the Vikes off guard. After the Utes early domination and score, the only comment from the PG coaches was "maybe now we'll settle down and play ball." The end of the Ute ambush started when Leo Biggs, PG's quick right tackle, crashed through to block the extra point try, a play that proved to be the Utes last genuine shot at scoring. Viking faithful didn't have long to worry because the Vikes roared down the field when they finally got the ball with Jason Allred breaking over the right side behind a trap block from Darren Smith and sprinted 33 . yards nearly untouched to the endzone to tie the score. The point after was wide and the score stood at 6-6 with three minutes left in the first .. period. Uintah was tagged with a 15 yarder for a late hit and on the next play, Scott Walker ran a deep post pattern. Hill laid the ball over he defender where Walker hauled it in and raced down the sideline for the touchdown. PG had covered 83 yards in two plays and used just 1 7 seconds clock time. Frampton added the final Viking touchdown by picking off a pass at the Ute 45 yard line and with some smart running behind some good blocking, Frampton returned the ball for the games final touchdown. PG's junior varsity finished the game and looked good doing so. Shaun Story and Matt Norman each had an interception in the fourth period. While Eric Thomas, sophomore quarterback ran the offense well. In fact, the j v went into score but the touchdown , was nullified by a penalty and the clock ran out.
