Show Building Boom in P.G. Definitely At An End Jack Jeppson, community development director in Pleasant Grove, reported that building in the area is the lowest it has been since 1973 when records were begun. In December, 1981 only three building permits were issued, all for adiditons, with a valuation of $5,226. The total for all of the past year was 90 permits with a total valuation of $1,736,359. The highest month during the year was June when valuations of the permits was $396,527. The most permits were issued during Nov. when 14 were issued. December came in last in numbers and valuations. In 1973 when record keeping was begun the valuation was $2,708,200. It rose steadily from then except in 1977 when it dipped slightly until 1979 when it hit a peak. Since then it has dropped off drastically, Jeppson said. In 1974 the valuation for the year was $3,593,098; 1975, $3,985,847; 1976, $7,238,292; 1977, $7,168,780; 1978, $7,237,408; 1979, $7,484,571; 1980, $3,987,902; and 1981, $1,736,359. The population rose quickly in those years of 1973 to 1979 but it has leveled off during the past two years. |
