Utah Valley families take note If your family is bursting with hidden talent--here'- s your chance for a debut Saturday, November 4 is Family Fun Day at the University Mall--par- t of the month-lon- g Utah Valley Family Month sponsored by the local Com-munications Council of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints. "Family group finalists will perform at noon, 2:00 and 3:00 p.m.," said Lee Nelson, Chairman of Family Fun Week, "and will receive special cer-tificates of merit from the LDS Church." "Utah Valley families who have a special talent--whethe- r it be music, juggling, or even en-couraged to compete," said Nelson. Applications are available from Mr. Nelson at Western Advertising Agency, 275 East Center St., Provo, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays. The deadline for returning the ap-plications is Oct. 16. "The purpose of the mall activity is to encourage family participation," the chairman said. "We also want to provide good family en-tertainment that demonstrates the hidden talent of local families." To qualify, a minimum of two members from the same immediate family must participate in the group A panel of judges selected by the Council will screen the applicants prior to Family Fun Day at the . Mall. Six finalist families will perform ' and first, second and third place winners will receive merchandise prizes from local Trojans at Jr. High for Oct. The "Trojans of the Month" for October have been chosen at Pleasant Grove Jr. High. Rachelle Aston is our seventh grade "Trojan". She is the daughter of Don and Sherry Aston. She has one brother and one sister, and her hobbies include drawing, pain-ting and baking. She is the outdoor type and loves to hunt, fish and go camping. Last year she received her Presidential Physical Fitness award, which is a great achievement. She plays the guitar and loves children as well as animals. Her favorite class is English. Eighth Grade Our eighth grade Trojan is Craig Lin-dstro- He is the son of Paul and Helen Lin-dstro- He has four brothers and one sister. His hobbies include building and painting models. Craig also likes elec-tric things. He has an TROJANS Rachelle Aston and Chris Jolley were named Trojans of Month at Jr. High. Craig Lindstrom was absent from picture. aquarium and keeps all kinds of fish. He likes to hunt so fall is one of his favorite times. Craig also enjoys keeping pigeons. Ninth Grade Chris Jolley, our Nin-th grade Trojan is the son of Carl and Donna Jolley. He is the fifth of seven boys. His hobbies include arts and crafts, writing, playing the piano and he also plays the clarinet. Chris has so many in-terests that he never seems to have time for all of them. He loves to run and often runs to school to keep in shape. He tries to do the very best in everything he does and he also makes yummy popcorn! Hp DANCE INSTRUCTORS Brent and Janet Butler will oversee Tri-Sta- Dance Oct. 21 Tri-Stak- e Dances Set Saturday , Oct. 21, will be the first of many dances which have been organized by youth leaders of the three L.D.S. Stakes in Pleasant Grove. Dances will be held every third Saturday in the Pleasant Grove Stake Center of youth high School age and older. Janet and Brent Butler have been called as specialists to over-see the planning and direct participants. They will also be assisted by Youth Committees from the three Stakes. Janet has had much experience in the field of dance and is well qualified to lead. She participated as a member of the In-ternational Folk Dancers at the BYU, touring Europe, Israel, England and through out the United States. she also performed as a member of the ballroom dance team and for the Program Bureau at BYU. Dance cards will be issued by the Bishop in each L.D.S. Ward with-in the Tri-Stak- e Area (Timpanogos, Pleasant Grove, and Pleasant Grove East stakes). There will be a charge of .50 cents for the card and guest cards may also be obtained for dates who reside outside of the three Stakes, on a "one night only" basis. The member within the Pleasant Grove area will be responsible to obtain the card for his or her guest from the Bishop of the member residing within the tri-sta-area. LDS standards will be observed and youth desiring to attend the dances are encouraged to contact their Bishop and obtain a dance cardi prior to the dance,, which will be held Saturday, Oct. 21 in the Pleasant Grove Stake Center. Projects Are Wanted for Wood Building Construction Do you need some thing built of wood? The Building Construction Class, under the direction of Irell Despain, is look for projects to build of wood materials. Some of the projects the students have worked on are: small storage sheds, play houses for chilfen, green house structures, and etc. At the present time saw horses are available at cost of material.
