Show I HUHSUAY, MAY 5, 19 PLEASANT GROVE REVIEW, PLEASANT GROVE, UTAH THURSDAY, MAY 5, 1977 Fraternal Order of Eagles to Hold Joint Initiation The Fraternal Order of Eagles Pleasant Grove 3372 will hold a joint initiation, Saturday, May 7th, in the Aerie home. The Auxiliary will initiate candidates at 7 o'clock p.m. The Aerie will initiate candidates into their order at 8 o'clock p.m. Following the initiations there will be a Mother's Day dance. Sunday, May 8th, the lodge will hold a Mother's Day breakfast. The breakfast will be cooked and served by Aerie members. Students at Grovecrest Are Developing Free Enterprise Students of Grovecrest Elementary participated in "Mini-Society- " activities in an effort to develop "Free-enterpris-economic concep-ts. This is done through the assistance of further development of decision-making skills language arts application of mathematics, reading spelling and art. The talents and gifts of the students is focused at a high level of performance. The classroom teacher assumes the role of director while the "Mini-society- " is the activity of the children. Teachers attended a workshop conducted by Dr. Dix Cloward (Weber State) and Dr. Marilyn Kourilshy (UCLA) on "Mini-Societ- y Economics." .v A i i . : . - - ' f V . NADEANE PARKER AND RON KENT ANDERSON Nadeane Parker, Ron Kent Anderson Set Wedding Date Mr. and Mrs. E. Moyle Parker of American Fork are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter Nadeane to Ron Kent Ander-son, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Kent Anderson of Pleasant Grove. They will be married on Friday, May 13 in the Salt Lake Temple. Following the ceremony the couple will be honored at a wedding break-fast at the bungalow, hosted by the parents of the groom. That same evening a recep-tion will be held at the American Fork Sixteenth Ward Cultural Hall, 190 West 300 North, from 7:30 to 10:00 All friends and rel-atives are invited to attend. The bride is a graduate of American Fork High School where she was active in the band, Pep Club, National Honor Society, and G.A.A. She also graduated from the four semimary program. She attended B.Y.U. for two years and is employed as a secretary at Seventy's Mission Bookstore in Provo. The groom is a graduate of Pleasant Grove High School and Seminary. He served on L.D.S. Mission in southwest England. He has attended B.Y.U. and is employed by Utah Power and Light and is a member of the Utah Air National Guard. He works, with his father in raising and showing registered Clydesdale Horses throughout the Western States. Prenuptial parties were given by Reba Kitchen, RaNae Hatch, Nancy Chidester and Marie Ander-son. After a short honeymoon the couple plan to make their home in Orem. Special Interests Invite Advisors to Friday Dance The Utah Valley Young Special Interests are inviting all bishops, Relief Society and Elders Quorum coun-selors, high counselors and other Special Interest workers and their partners to their dance Friday night. "May in Camelot" will be the theme for this special event to be held at 610 West 300 South, Provo at 9 p.m. Best dress will be the attire and the band is the "Latter Day Sensations." At the same location at 7:30 the interest fare will be held. The Special Interests plan a dance on Saturday night, for the location of this dance call the hot line number. The Utah Valley Area Con-ference is scheduled for July 29-3- Registration forms are now available. Temple Susan Anderson will become the bride of Scott Lynn of the couple are Rulon J. and Gwen M. An-derson and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd G. Gifford all of Pleasant Grove. A reception will be held in their honor that same evening from 7:30 to 9:30 in the Pleasant Grove Third Ward Chapel. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. Attending the bride will be Pamela Anderson, her cousini and sisters Melanie, Brenda and Millicent Anderson. Reny Eddington will serve as flower girl. David and Brenn Gifford will share the honors of best man. A shower was given by Becky Harvey, Wendy Pugh, and Kelly Frampton. Both the bride and groom are graduates of Pleasant Grove High School and L.D.S. Seminary and are presently employed in Pleasant Grove. Following a short honeymoon the couple will make their first home in Pleasant Grove. Legion Auxiliary Met Last Friday With Venice Fugal Officers, members, and guests of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 70 were present at the home of Venice Fugal Friday, April 29. The preamble and pledge were recited by the group, led by sergeant at arms, Mary Washburn. The prayer was offered by Sarah Monson. Americanism chairman, Venice Fugal, introduced the Americanism contest winners and guests attending. Reading their winning essays entitled "What Can I Do for My Country", were Darren Walker, Carrie Rowland, Lori Watson, Ruth Myers, Kelly Farnsworth. June Monson presented each with an award. Also on the program was Nancy Ekins who sand several fold songs. ; Refreshments were severed by the hostesses. The next meeting will be in May honooring Gold Star Mothers. LYNETTE MAC FAR LANE In Recital Friday Lynette Macfarlane To Present Piano Recital Friday Friday, May 6, Lynette Macfarlane will present a piano-recita- l in the Pleasant Grove Sixth-Tent- h Ward Chapel. The building is located at 475 North 700 East in Pleasant Grove. Lynette will perform works from Edvard Grieg, Claude Debussy, Ludwig van Beethoven and Frederic Chopin. Lynette is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jay G. Mac-farlane. She has been studying music under Laurie Thome of Pleasant Grove. Annette Wall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew J. Wall, will also sing two selec-tions at the recital. Her ac-companist will be Kathy Cahse, daughter of Mrs. Bonnie Chase. The public is cordially in-vited to attend the recital. LI WORLD WIDE L? President Donna Walker presided; prayer was offered by Lucille HLUman. Fae Belliston introduced the program for the evening which was a fashion show of handknit clothing designed, made, and modeled by Minnie Richards and her assistants. The showing was narrated by Richard Richards. Refreshments were served by the hostesses to 51 mem-bers and guests. ! This is Garden Club Has April Meeting With Alice Simper- - Pleasant Grove Garden Club met at the home of Alice Simper for their April meeting. The club members received their 1977 year books prepared by President Maya Told and heard an in-teresting lesson on Garden Therapy given by Mrs. Sim-per. The club discussed several civic beautification projects which they would like to un-dertake. They also voted to participate financially with the local Daughters of the Pioneers in putting a bench in the D.U.P. Park as well as planting some flowers there. Club project chairman Karla Haynie has recently directed the pruning of the rose bushes in the civic rose gar-den as well as outlining a plan for land scaping the new city well east of town.
