LAYUP Tom Strasburg hit layup to start third quarter. Viking rally in win over Spanish. No. 44 is Scott Johnson Vikings Drop 'Dons' 'Devils' Here Tonight The Vikings downed Spanish Fork 2 last Friday to up their region record to Tom Strasburg continued his comeback from a midseason slump with a 22 point night by hitting 11 of the 22 shots he took. Team mate Layne Butt scored 17 points and came down with nine rebounds. P.G. got off to a fast start, scoring 16 points while holding Spanish to five in the first quarter. The Dons picked up the pace during the second quarter with 13 points, but the Vikings balanced attack again scored 16 and P.G. lead 32-1- 8 at halftime. It was the same pattern in the second half, but only after Spanish gave the visitors a scare by hitting three straight buckets. A quick Viking time out by Coach Allred got P.G.s offense "moving." Strasburg hit a layup to ignite a Viking rally that saw the Vikes outscore Spanish 17-- 6 during the rest of the third quarter. Coach Allred credited Layne Butt "with a fine game" Butt put the clamps on Spanish Forks best scorer, Blake Bills, and forced the Dons into committing four offensive fouls trying to shake Bills loose for shots, Coach Allred said. The P.G. coach gave praise to the entire squad. Strasburg for his high flying great game and Ray Walker for a fine rebounding performance with 17. Gary Jackson, who was sick all day of the game, came through with three assists but it was Verlyn Ashton who lead the squad with four, plus eight points. Pleasant Grove hosts Springville tonight. The Devils are much improved over the first game when P.G. clobbered them. Last week Springville lost a two pointer to Lehi and beat Uintah in Vernal a couple of weeks before that.
