Show FOUNDING FATHERS Robert Williamson, Steven Van Home and Phillip Haupt rehearse for Heritage School Bicentennial program to be presented in P.G. Friday. Bicentennial Program A special Bicentennial Program, "The Spirit of America Speaks" will be narrated by Robert E. Wells and presented by the 165 students of American Heritage School at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 20 at the Timpanogos Stake Center in Pleasant Grove. The inspired principle of free agency will be brought to life as the history of freedom is traced from its inception to the present day. The signing of the Magna Charta by King John, the Declaring of Independence by the Founding Fathers, the inspired voyage of Columbus and George Washington's rejection of efforts to make him King of America, are some of the stirring scenes to be presented. The characters will be elaborately dressed in authentic costumes and their portrayals have been carefully researched in order to maintain historical accuracy. The American Heritage Siring Orchestra will play prelude music unde- the direction of Marva Johnson and Linda Boothe. The production is directed by Glenna Peterson, choral music is under the direction of Kay Asay, the script was written by Geneve Cornell and the scenery designed by Mable Barlow. The public is cordially invited. This annual program was awarded an honor certificate from the American Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge, and scenes from the program were presented at the LDS Church General Conferences in April and June of 1975 to illustrate how youth may be involved in the Bicentennial celebration. American Heritage School is promoted as "private education with a Christian foundation." Its Board of Trustees includes H. Verlan Anderson, chairman; Dr. Smith Broadbent, Dr., Gary B. Beus, Dr. Eldred A Johnson, Joe H. Ferguson, J. Allan Keith, Wayne P. Keith and Glenna Peterson. |
