Show Garden Club Enjoys Dry Flower Arranging Work The Pleasant Grove Garden Club held it's October Oc-tober meeting at the Louis Gardners' beautiful home in Manila the afternoon of October Oc-tober 28th. A fascinating time was spent by sixteen members making lovely decorative arrangements from an assortment assor-tment of colorful dried weeds and flowers. Lucille Hillman conducted the workshop and explained the rules and mechanics of flower arranging. Claudia Brown had gathered barrels of interesting in-teresting and unusual dry plants from fields and ditch banks for the occassion and most of them were used up as artistic designs were completed com-pleted to be carried home as momentos of a delightful experience. ex-perience. Everyone benefitted benefit-ted from Mrs. Hillman's special talents. Mrs. Gardner presented Mrs. Hillman with a pair of teakwood candlestick can-dlestick holders from Thailand for sharing her knowledge and lovely containers con-tainers as well as some of her fin collection of dried materials. A Halloween wall hanging mask made of dried material by Claudia Brown was displayed as a fun conversation conver-sation piece, and an elegant boughet of the last "roses of summer" from Norma Gardner's Gar-dner's garden adorned a treasured coffee table from Thailand. The hostess served delicious refreshments to the following guests, Verland Saling, Orem, Irene kari and Mary McCormick, American Fork, Alice Simper, Moya Told, Velma Gillman, Eva Reynolds, Edna Hunt, Veatrice Stewart, Evelyn Schoonover, Mery. McCan-dless, McCan-dless, Ruth Cobbly, Fern Harris, Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Hillman. Preceding the workshop, a short business meeting was conducted by club president, Moya Toid, during which she reminded members of the November election meeting to be held at Eva Reynold's home, Mrs. Gillman, secretary, read minutes of the Sept. meeting, and Claudia Brown read a life sketch she had prepared of Mrs. Told. |
