Show Enrollment at Trade Tech at High for Winter Enrollment of .Utah Technical College at Provo for the current winter quarter has set an all-time record of 3,264 according to President Wilson W. Sorensen, a gain of four percent over the fall quarter just ended and 25 percent above the winter quarter of last year. Its overall enrollemnt over five years has risen 92 percent. President Sorensen said that for the first time in the school's 34-year history it has shown a gain in the winter quarter over , the fall quarter, instead of the customary mid-year drop. The winter term day school studentbody totals 2,008, the first time it has passed the 2,000 mark, compared to a day school of 1,942 last fall. The winter quarter evening school registered a similar increase 1,256 as against 1,196 for the fall quarter. The substantial 25 percent gain over the winter quarter of 1974 was achieved when the day school of 2,008 is compared with 1,806 for a year ago. and the evening school of 1,256 soared far above the 806 of last year. In the past five years, the president noted, Utah Tech's day school enrollment has more than doubled 2,008 now as against nearly 900 in 1970 and the evening school total has risen 50 percent, from 1,256 today against 800 for 1970. Using totals for both day and evening schools over the five-year five-year period, Utah Tech's overall enrollment has risen 92 percent from 1970 to 1979j The ever-increasing enrollment only points up the need for all possible speed in creating expanded facilities on the college's new Orem campus, cam-pus, declared President Sorensen. |
