Fire Levels Sheds at Marshall's Home A Wednesday afternoon (July 23) fire at the residence of Melvin Marshall, 545 North 900 West did considerable damage he "saw some smoke and by the time he got from his back yard and across the street, the whole thing was in flames. One quick thinking spectator tore down part of a fence to allow several horses to escape the flames. to horse sheds, a pickup truck and several other items. When the siren in town went off at approximately 5:45 p.m. a towering cloud of smoke was visible for miles. P.G.'s fire department was on the site just minutes later but according to Volunteer Fireman Frank Mills, "the shed was gone when we got there." A trailer home parked near the sheds also suffered some damage. Bruce Murdock, an across the street neighbor, stated that Hawks Win Pioneer League Two yo;irs in ;i row I In-- Uiwks have taken first plaee in l'ioiH'Ci' League Play. A slrong second half helped the Hawks snatch first away from the Wasps. .Six wins in a row sent the Wasps off flying at the start of the year hut a few losses in the second hall dropped them to second. The Yankees were steady most of the way but couldn't put it together on the whole. The Yanks finished third in a close battle with the two leaders. Fourth place stayed with the Mustangs most of the way as they won almost as many as they lost. Both the Timps and Braves didn't get enough spark and were very close in the stan-dings from beginning to end. On the whole the league was exciting finding many upsets and close games. Nine games ended as forfeits making, it frustrating but we can look back and say it was a great year and should be greater next year! Here are the final standings. Final Standings Hawks. 12 3 Wasps n 4 Yankees 10 5 Mustangs 7 8 Timps 3 12 Braves 2 13 NO COMPARISON Flood control is nothing when compared with trying to keep within a budget today.
