Fork v I i t isV'.tji PAULA HAMANN Outstanding Secretary Paula Hamann Is Outstanding Secretary at PGHS Miss Paula Hamann was cho-sen Outstanding Secretary at Pleasant Grove High School and was honored recently by the Timp Chapter, National Secretaries Association. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas P. Hamann. As a student in the business department, Paula has achiev-ed 75 words per minute in typewriting and is working at 120 wpm in shorthand. Since she was in the ninth grade she has shown unusual ability in the secretarial field, has per-formed at the top of her class-es, and has been given work by teachers and administrators involving these skills. This past year she has been working as student secretary in the school office and to Prin-cipal John Gourley on the Co-operative Education program. Her evaluations have shown dependability, initiative, and interest in her work, as well as top performance in her sec-retarial skills. PTA COUNCIL New officers for Pleasant Grove PTA Council are Sara Jense, center, president Barbara Harvey, right, vice presi-dent, and Pauline Olpln, secretary for 1974. PTA Council Elects New Officers for Next Year, Sara Jense Is President Junior High PTA. In addition she has been a member of the Junior League in Salt Lake City and the State Historical Society. Presently she is on the Bicentennial Commission for historical sites in Amreican Fork Canyon. One of her main interests is the historical cul-ture of Utah. Mrs. Harvey is the wife of Newly named officers of the Pleasant Grove PTA Council are Sara Jense, President; Bar-bara Harvey, Vice Presidnet and Pauline Olpin, Secretary, it was announced this week. Mrs. Jense, the mother of four children, is married to Gary W. Jense, who is vice president of a mortgage firm in Salt Lake City. She holds a Bachelor of " Science degree and has attend-ed Utah State University, BYU and Weber State. She has been a member of the Center Camp of the DUP and has served as vice president of the Bountiful James D. Harvey, a state soil conservationist. They are the parents of four children. The new vice president has served in many church posit-ions and is currently Relief Society chorister. According to Mrs. Harvey, the local council would like to bring historical information re-garding the Pleasant Grove area to the schools and en-courage the children to learn more about their local heri-ag- e. Mrs. Harvey and Mrs. Jense plan to write a history of American Fork Canyon as part of the PTA project and the Bicentennial program. The wife of Dee Olpln, own-er of the Olpin Mortuary, Paul-ine is presently serving as Pleasant Grove Stake Cultural Refinement Leaker. She is the mother of five children. Mrs. Olpin is a past presi-dent of the PTA Council and has been president of the Womens Legislative Council of Utah County. She has also been a member of the Straw-berry Days Queen Contest committee. Fire Ladies Met Monday Evening Plan Breakfast With President Velma Rob-bi-ns in charge the April meet-ing of the Fire Ladies was held this past Monday evening. Norma Gray, chairman of this year's Firemans Breakfast, reported that the breakfast will be held on Saturday, May 4th and all plans are going nicely. Maybell Mills was elected as Remembrance Chairman. Tasty refreshments were served to all by this month's committee, Maybell Mills, Lily Mills and Sandra Newman. Parents Without Partners to Hear Psychologist Parents Without Partners, Utah County Group, will meet at the Provo Utilities Building Thursday, April 11 at 7:30 p.m. Dr. I.
