Show Junior High Band Plans Closing Concert Tonight The Pleasant Grove Junior High School band proudly presents pre-sents their closing Spring Concert Con-cert on Friday, May 17th at 8 p.m. in the Junior High School auditorium. Everyone is invited invit-ed to attend. The Junior High band has had an extremenly successful year.' They have presented seven concerts at the local grade schools, demonstrating their instruments and talents. They were very well accepted. This year at the solo and and ensemble contest, Pleasant Grove Junior High band students stu-dents proudly showed their colors. The participants are as follows: fol-lows: (1) Flute Trio, Carrie Mc-Causland, Mc-Causland, Jana Monson, Jar-jana Jar-jana Tomlinson. They received a 2 plus. (2) Clarinet quartet, Vickie Orton, Janice Farley, Keri Nickell, Allen Young. They received a 2 plus. (3) Clarinet quintet, Jeff Merrill, Carol Christensen, Jeff Abbott, Julie Olsen, Eric Hoffer. They ;ceived a 1 minus. (4) Trumpet quartet, Craig Stone, David Robbins, Doug Lundell, Ronald Ash. The re-cieved re-cieved a 1 minus. Sax quintet, Kathy Mills, Glen Ewan, Annette An-nette Carlson, Mark Crump, Craig Harmer. They received a 1 minus. (6) Brass sextet, Clark Mills, Russell James, Randy VanWave, Joe Howe, Dale Majors, Mark Christensen. They received a 1. The ratings range from 1 to 5. 1 is considered the best As you can see the JHS students stu-dents were rated at the very top. The band particpated at the annual band contest and played play-ed three numbers. They received receiv-ed a top number 1 rating on all three arrangmnts. The judge jud-ge told the students their presentations pre-sentations were exceptional and they should be highly congratulated con-gratulated for the tenchnique, expression and maturity they demonstrated at the contest So often adults find time to critize young people. This year the JHS High School band students achievement has been exceptional. If you are a parent par-ent or someone close to any of these students it would be hoped hop-ed that you cou!d find a way to recognize these students out outstanding achievements by attendance at this final concert. con-cert.
