Show Ywrag Isasketfeeirs d Pleasant Grove's young basketball bas-ketball players are off to a good season and show promise of developing into fine varsity material. The ninth grade team is undefeated, un-defeated, with wins over Lehi 44-37 and 47-34. They also defeated de-feated Wasatch by the unbelievable unbe-lievable score of 67-7 on Jan. 9. The score is obviously redic-ulous redic-ulous and even harder to believe be-lieve considering that in the last five years P.G. has only won 3 of the 9 games played between Wasatch and P.G. 9th grade teams. A rematch will be played on Jan. 23. Ninth grade boys on the team this year are Gary Jackson, Bret Frampton, and David Mor-tensen, Mor-tensen, Guards with Kyle Secretin Sec-retin and Raymond Walker as centers. Forwards are Tom Strasburg, Layne Butt, Kirk Tanner, George Tewanama and Bret Jenkins. Soph players this year are Verlyn Ashton, Kent Prestwich Brent Peterson, and Jerry Young as guards. Working at center spot is Bryce Green. Forwards are Chris Nelson, Dale Newman, and David Hansen. Han-sen. Due to the energy shortage been played to date. The Vikes have won two and lost two. Lehi soundly trounced them In the first game 57-33. In the second meeting the Vikings got organized and thumped the Lehi Le-hi team 56-49. The soph team also defeated Carbon 59-52 and lost a close game to Springville, 47-43. Coaches of these two teams are Tyler Smith and Jack Hill. |
