Show Lindon City Council Met Last Week With Mew Mayor and Councilmen The Lindon City Council met on Wednesday, Feb. 9, for their regular meeting. New mayor Willard M. Johnson conducted and Douglas and Wayne Johnson, John-son, newly elected councilmen, were present, along with Wayne Peay, incumbent councilman. coun-cilman. LeRoy Fryer and Dar-rell Dar-rell Frampton, the two other incumbents, were excused. First item of business was reading proposed ordinances to be added to the city ordinances Councilman Peay made a motion mo-tion that a public hearing be held on rezoning Locust Ave. and at 505 South 800 West. This was seconded and passed. Parks and Public Services: Douglas Johnson and Darrell Frampton, includes parks and recreation, library, buildings & grounds, senior citizens, health, civil defense, education, drugs and alcohol, and beautification. Public Utilities: Wayne Johnson John-son and LeRoy Fryer, water department; Wayne Peay, garbage gar-bage disposal; LeRoy Fryer and Wayne Johnson, street department, depart-ment, equipment and shop and city employees. Wayne Johnson and Wayne Peay are in charge of Sewer, A discussion was held regarding regar-ding the telemetering system still not functioning properly (Continued on page 6) Lindon City Council (Continued from page 1) and the necessity of getting it in working order. Councilman Wayne Johnson was asked to contact city employees to determine de-termine if there is a leak in the collection system in Dry Canyon Springs, which could have caused recent problem of the water storage tank being be-ing almost empty. Mayor Johnson reported having hav-ing been contacted by Carol Chidester of the TOPS Club to get permission to continue to meet in the city building for the year. A final decision will be made when the entire city council is present. Councilman Douglas Johnson reported having been contacted by a former Lindon resident requesting re-questing to use the riding arena during the summer months. It was stated thtat Lindon Clubs have top priority. If a vacant evening is available and if the group would help maintain the arena, there would be a possibility possi-bility to use the arena. Councilman Douglas Johnson said he had been approached by Frank Slaven, who wanted to know the disposition of the boundary of his property and that of the city. Mayor John-stated John-stated that this will eventually cut down and leveled. Councilman Peay reported that Moore Mill and Supply have not made any progress on the requirements set forth to eliminate the fire hazard existing ex-isting since they put in an apartment without prior approval. appro-val. Mr. Engh will contact the attorney to write a letter to Mr. Moore in this matter. It was brought out that anyone any-one building without first obtaining ob-taining a building permit or clearing through the Planning Commission would be charged double on their building permit. Councilman Wayne Johnson reported having been contacted by the PTA regarding walkways walk-ways not being plowed during dur-ing the recent storm. City Council meeting was set for 7 p.m. for the remaining winter months. A discussion on employee wages will be held at the next meeting. |
