Show American Party Gives a Response to All Citizens A response and plea from the American Party. The American Party would like to make a plea to unite and inform the general public. In view of the general con-troversary con-troversary in both the major political parties, it seems that a certain segment of our society soc-iety has come under attack, by no less than an eminent person than the State Democratic Chairman John Klas. He asked all Democrats to declare war on the John Birch Society and all other right wing groups, (Amercan Party); also all conservatives con-servatives and people for constitutional con-stitutional government. They were denounced as constitutional constitu-tional crazies. I do not agree with Mr. Klas and I do not think a goodly portion of the Democratis Party agrees with him either. Somewhere along the line there are some Democrats who are John Birchers, and some who are of the right wing conservatives, conser-vatives, and some who are opposed op-posed to the Land Use Act as passed by the Utah State Legislature Leg-islature in the Budget Session of 1974. This same segment of our society was under attack by the Republicn Party in a series ser-ies of news releases, broadcast over the major stations in Utah. Ut-ah. In this attack the John Birch Society members were declared to be ineligible to re- . present the Republican Party for public office. It left the impression im-pression on this viewer that the John Birch Society members mem-bers were second class citizens and unfit for public .office. This attack was aimed at the person of Joe Ferguson. His character was sacrificed on the alter of public opinion and he was made to appear as an undesirable un-desirable by his own party. It was this viewers opinion that Joe Ferguson was a real threat to the liberal views of the Republic Party. The only way the Republicans could defeat de-feat Mr. Ferguson was to take him into their party and never allow his name to appear on a voting ballot. Mr. Ferguson had many friends in the Republican Repub-lican Party, as attested by the close vote in their State Convention. Con-vention. The party knew of Mr. Ferguson's affiliation with the John Birch Society, he being a Chapter Leader of that organization organi-zation for some time. It was public knowledge and they allowed al-lowed him to run for public office in the Republican Party. It would appear that they let him aspire to public office only to corral and defeat him. To the officials of the Democratic Demo-cratic and Republic Parties: The American Party says, Thanks a million! Had we prayer pray-er for divine guidance we could not have our prayers answered answer-ed more fully. We, the American Party, welcome this attacked segment of our society with open arms. We love you (the attacked segment) seg-ment) for your stand on constitutional con-stitutional government. We invite in-vite you to join and unite with us, the American Party. We are working to reverse the trend to centralize government, to return our country to the Constitutional Republic that God intended it to be; that our freedoms may be made secure, and that our government will remain of the people, for the people, and by the people, with liberty and justice for all. Remember! Republicans and Democrats, who have had your views trampled upon by your own party; you do have recourse. re-course. You can come and join with us, the American Party, to help this great nation to get back on her feet, to remain a soverign nation under God. Delmar H.
