Show Am. Legion and Auxiliary to Sponsor Girls An American Legion and Auxiliary District Officers meeting will be held next on Dec. 14 (Thursday) at the Jay-cee Jay-cee Building in Pleasant Grove. One of the principal subjects to be discussed will be the Miss American Legion contest to be held sometime in January Jan-uary by Post 70 and in February Feb-ruary by District 4, American Legion. Post 70 Commander Vernon Ahman and Auxiliary President Pearl Fowlke will both take entries en-tries for girls desiring to enter the contest. Rules are as follows: 1. Her age must be, as of April 1, not less than 18 years and she shall not have reached reach-ed her 23rd birthday. 2. Each contestant must be at least a high school graduate or will graduate no later than June of the current year 1973) 3. She must be of good character char-acter and morally acceptable, attractive, possess poise, personality, per-sonality, intelligence and charm. 4. Contestant must be single, never married, divorced or had a marriage annulled. 5. No wigs will be allowed except when used in connection connec-tion with the talent presentation. 6. Each contestant must give a talent performance. Her talent tal-ent may be singing, dancing, playing a musical instrument, dramatic reading, art display, designing or speaking on a subject sub-ject of her choice. The presentation presen-tation must be at least 3 minutes min-utes and no more than 5 minutes. min-utes. 7. Contestant should act natural nat-ural at all times and should avoid any artificial or pretentious preten-tious airs. Al contestants are expected to conform to the high standards of such contest as regards to dress, behavior, public appearance, manners, etc. 8. Contestant must be a resident res-ident of the State. Residency for school purposes will not be accepted. 9. She should be patriotic, congenial and have a genuine love of God and Country. 10. Individual fraternization or dating will not be allowed when she is scheduled to fulfill ful-fill any obligations pertaining to the contest and or The American Am-erican Legion. Contestants will be judged on the following categories: Judges conference, 40; Creative and Performing Arts, 15; Poise and Appearance, 30; and Swim Suits, 15. |
