Show THURSDAY, MARCH 16, 1972 PLEASANT GROVE REVIEW, PLEASANT GROVE, UTAH THURSDAY, MARCH 16, 1972 History Students Hear About Pioneer Fashions At the invitation of Jerry Par-duh- n, history teacher at the lo-hi-school, Mrs. Harold Walk-er spoke to the class in Am-erican History on Wednesday morning. Mrs. Walker was dressed in a dress, bonnet and beaded cape of her pioneer grand-mother, Lucinda Clark Harvey, one of the town's first settlers. She talked of how even those women of early days followed the fashions of the day. She al-so related stories told her by pioneers telling of how young people of those early days were much like the youth of today, loving to be popular, "the belle of the ball" at the dances and basket parties, the chief rec-reation of the day, held in the old school house, now used as the Pioneer Memorial Museum. Many of the youth of that time thought their parents were old fashioned because they in-sisted on their daughters be-ing modest in dress and avoid-ing extreme hair styles. Mrs. Walker also related some of the incidents of the settlement of the city in 1850, the troubles with the Indians and the experiment of the Un-ited Order. iiiiiiiiiiiii .'. i M BRIDAL SHOP : GOWNS DESIGNED j j JUST FOR YOU i ONE Of PROVCS MOST ! : DISTINCTIVE SALONS I Gowns for the Bride jM y I I & Bridesmaids, Mothers e Prom & Date Formals rI '. : Pont Soits r. Somebody had to make sure f it got to the train, and from the train to the distributor. And somebody had to drive the train.
