In addition, the Title I students receive special aud-itory and vision checks which are useful in helping them. Parent involvement is very high. Parent orientation meet-ings have been conducted in each building for the parents of students in the program. Two parents from each school were elected to serve on a dist-rict wide Parent Advisory Council which has the respon-sibility of evaluating, monitor-ing and recommending chan-ges in the program. The com-mittee meets monthly with the program director. An outgrowth of parent in-volvement is the opportunity for parents of tutorial students to participate in Family Life Education courses conducted by advanced students in the College of Family Relations at BYU. Approximately fifty peo-ple are now involved in this activity. Also available to parents in the program is a more intensi-fied individual family coun-seling program. This is done on the campus at BYU to as-sist them with family difficul-ties which may impare the learning of childen in the fam-ily. This program has just star-ted this fall. An open house is being of-fered in each of the schools on Friday, December 1, 1972. Any-one interested in observing the tutoring process is invited to attend. Since the tutoring ta-kes place in 30 minute sessions and it not continuous all day, please call the school for a schedule to plan your visit when tutoring is in action.
