Show THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 1971 PLEASANT GROVE REVIEW, PLEASANT GROVE, UTAH THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 1971 Illegal Sinkbox Gives Hunter Unfair Advantage Golden Peay, Wildlife Re-sources Law Enforcement Chief said the prohibited type of sink-bo- x is a raft or any type of low floating device having a de-pression which affords the hun-ter a means of concealing him-self below the surface of the water. A sinkbox permitted for wat-erfowl hunting is the perman ently located type that is plac-ed in a shallow water or mud-fla-t area with only a few inches of edge exposed above the surface. Also legal is the "sink-hole" which is a hole in the mud with mud banked around the edges to keep water out. Floating sinkboxes are ex-tremely effective for waterfowl hunting. Authorities claim such devices give man an unfair ad-vantage over ducks and geese because of their low profile and free-rovin- g ability in deeper waters where waterfowl seek safety in flight or resting. Store Guns Safely After Hunting Season Is Over Many firearms accidents in the home could be prevented by hunters double checking the safe storage of their now idle big game rifles. Lee Robertson, Wildlife Re-sources safety specialist, urges gun owners to store their fire-arms safely. Guns should be locked up if possible and am-munition stored separately. Bolt action rifles can be ren-dered inoperative by remov-ing the bolt and storing it in another location. "Be absolutely sure cham-bers and magazines are empty before cleaning or storing fire-arms don't merely assume they are empty," Robertson said. Funeral Rites Held Last Saturday for Ida C.
