Show New Year Brings Cold Weather to Utah Communities The New Years opened with bitter cold temperatures, especially es-pecially at night. The lowest reading for the winter season was registered Friday morning morn-ing Jan. 2, when the official mercury sank to a frigid 4 degrees de-grees above zero. Total precipitation for the 7-day 7-day period ending Monday evening ev-ening was 0.15 of an inch of water, when snow from the four daily snow storms was melted. In all, 1969 was a "wet year" in Pleasant Grove. The total precipitation was 15.30 inches, which is well above the average, since official records have been kept. A few automobiles were observed ob-served steaming from both ends the rear from the condensed con-densed exhaust fumes and the front from a boiling, frozen radiator. Service stations have been kept busy adding and checking antifreeze. Skies were misty blue early Tuesday morning. Outside it was 8 degrees and the barometer barom-eter was rising at 30.40.
