Show t , it . I 2 . VM DON L. GRAY Professional Scouter Don L. Gray Appointed as Scouting Assistant The national office of Boy Scouts of America, with the approval of the LDS Church, announce the appointment of Don L. Gray, as assistant director direc-tor of Mormon Relations. Mr. Gray will work with Folk-man Folk-man D. Brown, director. He was serving as field director direc-tor for the Salt Lake Council at the time of his new appointment. appoint-ment. The need for an assistant director dir-ector has arisen because of the rapid growth of the Scouting program within the LDS Church. During the last nine years, the program has more than doubled, according to Mr. Brown, who has been director for seven years. Mr. Gray was born and raised rais-ed in Pleasant Grove, Utah. It was there as a boy that he became interested in Scouting. He was the first boy from PI. Grove to attain the rank of Eagle Scout. He walked to Pro-vo Pro-vo and back to attend the Eagle Board of Review. Mr. Gray has been a professional pro-fessional Scouter for 16 years and has worked in Scouting for 40 years. After attending BYU Mr. Gray served in the army in California. It was in California that he met Miss Helen Louise Odhner to whom he taught the Gospel and later married. He has been given numerous Scouting assignments in the Chuch, having helped Scouting Scout-ing develop in the Church in the San Francisco Bay area. In addition to his work in Scouting Mr. Gray has served in ward and stake Sunday Schools. Mr. Gray- and his family live in Salt Lake City, where he moved in 1968. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Gray of Pleasant Grove. Mr. Gray will have offices in the Salt Lake Boy Scout Center, Cen-ter, and as assistant director, he will help direct relationships throughout the Church between stakes and Scouting councils. |
