Show Donna Ash Brock Named Alternate To Mother of Year Mrs. Alta Estella Cutler Rust, 63, Vernal, mother of five sons and a widow has been named 1970 Utah Mother of the year at ceremonies held in Salt Lake City last Friday. Named as 1970 alternate mothers were Mrs. Edmund P. Evans, Salt Lake City and Mrs. Donna Ash Brock, Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove. Mrs. Rust, who had taken nurses training, was faced with raising her five sons alone when her husband died in 1951. During this time she was also active in church and community com-munity work. One of her sons is an English professor at the University of North Carolina, another is a teacher in Uintah School District, Dist-rict, another is an attorney, the fourth is teaching at BeU-veue BeU-veue College, Nebraska, and the fitfh will graduate from BYU next spring. She has nine grandchildren. Other candidates, who were considered at the April 3 evaluation eval-uation were as follows: Mrs. Jules (Anna Wilhelmina Timmerman) Dieu, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Guy (Vera Heaton) Chamberlain, Kanab; Mrs. Glen M. (Camille Crandall) Bennion, Brigham City; Mrs. Gilbert (Mary Afton Harding) Marchant, Kamas; Mrs. William Wil-liam (Goldie Helen Melvina McCandless) Klein, Mrs. T. G. Marion MacKay) Schmidt, and Mrs. Drew M. (Ruth Ellen Moore) Peterson, all of Ogden. |
