Show THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 1969 PLEASANT GROVE REVIEW, PLEASANT GROVE, UTAH1 " THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 1969 Lehi Drops Vikings Last Friday, Vikings Bye on Wednesday The Lehi Pioneers bushwhack-ed the Pleasant Grove Vikings 72-6- 5 in a Region Four basket-ball game payed at Lehi last Friday night. The Battle Creek boys made a game of it for the first two periods, forcing the Pioneers to be content with only a one-poi-advantage at the end of each round. The periods ended 17-1- 6 and 30-2- respectively for Lehi. The second half was some-thing else again. Lehi pulled away to a lead at the end of the third canto and then held on as Pleasant Grove fought back to lower the Pion-eer margin to seven points at the final gun. Jay Hardman, Pioneer sharp-shooter really sank the Viking ship. He lobbed in 10 from the field and 3 for 4 from the line for 23 points. Mike Shoell coun-tered for the Vikings with 21 points, which included 9 field-ers and 3 for 3 from the line. Third best scorer was Dave Lind, Lehi, with 17. Pleasant Grove might have made a two-poi- game out of it, with a little more luck in the foul pitching department. The Vikes scored 11 out of 18 as against Lehi's 11 out of 18. In other Region Four games also played last Friday night, Spanish Fork, 3-- beat Carbon 2- -2 70-5- Payson, 3 bested Springville, 2-- 62-5- 7 and Orem 3- -2 rolled over American Fork, 3 75-6- Provo 4--0 was bye. All Region Four teams were busy Wednesday night, Feb. 5, except the Vikings, who drew the bye. Results were not avail-able at press time for the Re-view. Friday night, February 7th, its Provo at Springville; Pay-so-n at Lehi, Carbon at Ameri-can Fork, Orem at Pleasant Grove and Spanish Fork bye.
