Show City Fathers Weigh Problems at Meeting Monday, Long Session Mayor Paul T. Fordham and all members of the Pleasant Grove City Council met in regular reg-ular session last Monday night at City Hall. It was a long meeting with many items of civic importance comnig up for consideration. Gilbert Horrocks of Salt Lake City reported that he is considering consid-ering establishing a home and an engineering office in Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove He requested that he be employed by the City. He was advised that he would be considered along with other engineering firms for fut-ture fut-ture city business. Veatrice Stewart, Alice Sim- per and Lucile Hillman, representing repre-senting clubs interested in beautification, requested that the old City Shops be converted into a club house since the building was of historical importance. im-portance. The council encouraged clubs to cooperate in financing the project and promised some financial fin-ancial help from city funds. The Council discussed the coming city beautification program pro-gram and suggested several names for committee chairman. chair-man. The matter was referred to Councilman Jesse K. Thorne for f urther study. Bids were opened for the purchase of balloon tires for the cemetery truck. The present city business license policy was reviewed and recommendations made, that the amount of the license fee be based upon total sales. Councilman Jay Harmer was authorized to have a new ordinance ord-inance drawn up in accordance with the recommendation and to become effective in 1970. Councilman Marvin Green reported that he had been requested re-quested by the Utah State De-parment De-parment of Employment Security Secur-ity to furnish a salary schedule of city employees. Councilman Green stated that such a schedule sche-dule would be furnished as requested. re-quested. The question as to what to do with pasture acreage, now owned by the city, came up for consideration. Councilman Thorne was authorized to receive re-ceive bids for the rental of the same. The Council approved placing a seal coat on the walls of the new City Shops. The Council approved extending extend-ing the deadline for accepting applications for the new post of "City Administrator'' to 5 p.m. Monday, February 24, 1969. The Council also approved placing three-way stop signs at the intersection of Main and Center Streets. |
