Harvey, Pleasant Grove, nationally known soil and water conservationist, was signally honored last Friday at Utah State- University. He was given the "Biidger A-ward", A-ward", conferred each year on an outstanding conservationist in Utah. The event took place at the annual Conservation Week banquet and climaxed a week of activities .including meetings, meet-ings, a queen contest, conservation conser-vation movies and displays in the USU Union Building. Other awards included "Son of Paul," to Ken Higginbothem Idaho Falls, Ida. and "Daughter "Daugh-ter of Paul" to Glenna Rasmussen, Rasmus-sen, Providence, Utah. Mr. Harvey is past president of the Utah Association of Soil Conservation Districts ,a position posit-ion he held for ten consecutive years. He was one of the initiators of the $4.4 million American Fork - Dry Creek Watershed Project .chairman of its watershed water-shed committe, and chairman of three sponsoring organizations. organiza-tions. This project was selected by the National Watershed Congress as "Watershed of the Year for 1966. In 1965 Mr. Harvey was named Soil Conservationist of the Year by the Utah Wildlife Federation. He was nominated fo r the National Watershed Congi-ess "Watershed Man of the Year" award in 1968. |
