Pace are announcing marriage plans of their daughter Marvalee and Brent Lale Lewis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale W. Lewis. The young couple are plan-ning a Dec. 19 marriage in the Salt Lake Temple and a recep-tion will be held honoring them that same evening in the Tim-panogos Stake House. Marvalee has invited Mrs. LaMar Mecham, Mrs. Dennis Christen, Connie Peters, San-dra Lewis, Annette Lewis and Debra Jo Pace to be her at-tendants. Best man will be Mike Floyd. Marvalee is a graduate of the Pleasant Grove High School where she was a high school band twirler for three years, a member of the Pep Club and GAA. She also graduated from the LDS Seminary. She is a graduate of Utah Technical Col-lege at Provo in Practical Nur-sing, and is now employed at Utah Valley Hospital. Brent is also a graduate of Pleasant Grove High School, where he was active in foot-ball, track and wrestling. He was also a Sterling Scholar in Arts and Art Crafts and an LDS Seminary graduate. He has attended Utah State Uni-versity, and is now attending Brigham Young University. Debra Swenson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orin Swenson of Lindon, became the bride of Benny R. Walters in ceremon-ies performed last Saturday evening, Nov. 29. Mr. Walters is the son of Mrs. Mae Walters of Provo. Debra attended school in Lin-don and Pleasant Grove, and ws 1st attendant to the Rodeo Cjeen of Spanish Fork Fiesta Days of '69. She is employed in Orem. Mr. Walters completed his enlistment in the U.S. Army, serving one year in Vietnam, and is now employed in Provo. Open house honoring the young couple was held Dec. 3 at the home of the bride's par- - Stake Centennial Ball Proves Very Successful Event The Timpanogos Stake YW-MI- A Centennial Ball, held last Saturday night in the Stake House, was an artistic and cul-tural success. The event was staged in recognition of the founding of the organization, Nov. 28, 1869 by LDS President Brigham Young. Honored guests were all the Timpanogos Stake YWMIA presidents, since January, 1931 These, in chronological order are: Estelle Fenton, Martha K. Jones, Josie G. Walker, Fern E. Smith, Effie W. Adams, Al-ton B. Miller, Ella H. Jack-son, Ruby W. Fugal, Carol C. Wells, Wanda Blackhurst, Car-ol Chidseter, Ruth M. Paul and Leone F. Clark, current presi-dent. Special guests were Timpan-ogos Stake Presidency, Ward Bishops, High Council, MIA supervisors, Stake MIA pres-idency and Superintendency, Stake MIA Board, Ward pres-idents and Superintendents, and their partners. The Stake Cultural Hall was beautifully decorated in red and white colors. The program, emceed by Eugene (Jim) Bezzant, consis-number- s: Entrance and presentation of the Past Presidents. Promen-ade and waltz by the special guests and their partners. Tribute to past presidents, written and given by Emily Sanderson. Old Time Dances, Waltz Quadrille, Charleston, Varsouv-iann- e and Swing by special dance groups. Song, "Happy Birthday, to MIA" by groups of ward sing-ers. "X. . ! - A, I : fx i i ) I MISS MARSHA SUE HOLT Marsha Sue Holt, Richard Christensen Will Wed in Salt Lake Temple Dec. 12 Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum F. Holt are announcing the wedding plans of their daughter Marsha Sue and Richard Christensen Nelson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald K. Nelson of Provo. The young couple will be wed the evening of Dec. 12, in a ceremony to be performed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple Parents of the groom will host a wedding dinner after the ceremony. " The following evening, Satur-day, Dec. 13, a reception is planned at the Timpanogos Stake House. Marsha is an honor graduate of the Pleasant Grove High School, and gradated from the four-yea- r Seminary program. She is now a junior at Brigham Young University. Mr. Nelson is a graduate of Brigham Young University, where he was a member of Delta Phi Kappa. He fulfilled an LDS mission to Southern California and has been honor-ably discharged from the U.S. Army Reserve. He is presently teaching at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, where the couple will make their home. Each club member brought Christmas ideas and gift sug-gestions to exchange with oth-er club members. Also plans were made for the coming Christmas party. Refreshments were served. Other club members present were Beverly Jarvis, Shirley Austin, Barbara Richards, Kay Jacob, Mary Kaye Smith, Pat West, Karen Johnson, Cindy Sutch. Marilyn Payne was a special guest for the evening. Firemen Auxiliary Holds Meeting Monday, Nov. 24 The Fireman Auxiliary met Monday evening, November 24 with Naomi Keetch in charge. A short business meeting was held, and it was voted unani-mous to pin-chas-e Christmas decorations for the firestation. The time was then turned over to a committee consisting of Eberle Smith, Thelma Mar-ro- tt and Ruth Cobbley as chair-man. Mrs. Cobbley then intro-duced Mr. Carlon and Mr. Larson, who gave a very inter-esting and informative demon-stration on canned fruits and vegetables. They explained how to select and get th best pro-ducts for the money. Light refreshments were ser-ved to the following members: Beth McNees, Velma Robbins, Lucile Walker, Naomi Grey, June Fenton, JoAnn Gibson, Myrtle Hilton, Linda Smith and those already mentioned. Special guests were Leta Curtis, Elizabth Jones, Lucille Hillman ,Edna Church, Beth Frampton, Mim Ash, Alberta Walker, Barbara Lewis, Arvilla Harvey, Cora Messersmith, Verda Fenton, Mary Grey, Lor-raine Montgomery, Jo Smith, Sheryl Harris, JoAnn Smith, and Duretha Smith. Lucky winners of gift food packs were June Fenton, Beth McNees, Myrtle Hilton, Cora Messersmith, Lorane Montgo-mery and Naomi Grey. The Fire ladies also enter-tained their husbands at a lovely Halloween dinner in October. After serving table games and visiting were enjoy-ed with Errol Robbins auction-ing off the remaining food. Committee in charge was Nao-mi Keetch, Naomi Grey, Linda Smith, Evelyn Robbins and Velma Robbins. AAUW Meeting Held for Month Of November The November meeting for the AAUW was held at the home of Mrs. Emily Pederson. ss with Mrs. Pederson was Mrs. Walter Reimschiissel The program consisted of a book reciew "From Sea to Shining Sea" by Mrs. Jean Fu-gal. An interesting discussion followed. There was also a short report of an article "The Mystery of the Vanishing Os-pre- y" and a short discussion of pesticide pollution, by Mrs. June Monson. This was all in keeping with our course of study for the current year. Light refreshments were ser-ved to Miss Margaret Hayes, Miss Marjorie Holdaway, Mrs. Ross Nielson, Mrs. Ella Jack-son, Miss Jennie Gleason, Mrs. Lawrence Crease, Mrs. Jean Fugal, Mrs. Vera Wagstaff, Mrs. June Monson and the two hostesses. Cadmus Club Has Enjoyable Music Program Recently A program of music was heard by Cadmus Club mem-bers at the home of Carol and George Jaynes, Thursday, Nov. 20th.. President Elaine Walker greeted the guests and mem-bers and briefly conducted matters of business. Catherine Rees of the Pro-gram Committee introduced Jerry Elison and his students from the Orem Junior High School. With Mr. Elson direct-ing,, this group presented an evening of delightful entertain-ment. Their songs and dances expressed the theme of creat-ively in the fullest meaning. The club members were captivated by the spontaneity and pleasure which the youth-ful performers exhibited in their program. At the conclusion of the pro-gram refreshments were ser-ved by hostesses Winifred Adamson, Vera Matthews and Ora Thome. CHYNOWETH (Rhonda Parker) Rhonda Parker and Craig Chynoweth Are Married Recently in Phoenix, Ariz. Mr. and Mrs. Fred A. Park-er of Pleasant Grove are hap-py to announce the marriage of their daughter Rhonda Lou to Craig Donald Chynoweth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald A. Chynoweth also of Pleasant Grove. The young couple were married in Phoenix, Arizona. Rhonda was a student at the Pleasant Grove High School, and Craig is a P.G. High School graduate. He is now attending American Institute of Technol-ogy in Phoenix. They play on making their home there until he finishes his schooling. They are living at 652 North 3rd Avenue, Apt. 2, Phoenix. Arizona. 85003. Utah Power Co. pays Second Largest Tax Bill A single check last week en-riched Utah County tax coffers by $492,314. The taxpayer: Utah Power and Light Co., one of the lar-gest single taxpayers in the the county and second largest in the state. The utility's check to the county was part of a Utah State property tax payment tot-aling $5,070,018 and shared by 26 of the state's 29 counties. Out of the total payment, two-third- s goes to schools, the remainder goes to support local government and county governments. David R. Neilson, Utah Power and Light manager of lands and ad valorum taxation said that taxes continue to be one of the largest single items in the company's cost of doing business. Taxes take about 20 cents of each dollar of revenue. Federal taxes account for ap-proximately one -- half of the company's total tax bill. Iversons Have Guests for J Thanksgiving The John Iversons had their daughter and son-in-la- Pam-eli- a and Leon Tidwell and their two children visiting with them from California during the Thanksgiving holidays. On Saturday they had a delicious dinner at Bill and Iva's Cafe. Ronald Iverson had just re-turned from Vietnam, so he surprised the group and was there to dinner. Family members there were Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Iverson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Eld-o- n Huntsman and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jed Wiscombe, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Tidwell and family. Johnny Iverson and his three children. Johnny's wife had just returned home from the hospital with a baby boy. Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Harrison and family, Mr. and Mrs. Rod-ney Raven and family and Grant Iverson. Thirty-thre- e family members were present, and 20 were un-able to be nresent.
