Show Vikings Lose Two Games Last Friday and Saturday Nights Most of the Region Four high school basketball teams were active in pre-season basketball games last weekend. On the whole their success was both positive and negative. The fortunes of the Pleasant Grove Vikings were perhaps, not entirely as they would have liked. Friday night they were beaten by Granger 67-59 in a game played at Granger. Saturday night the Battle Creek Boys took on the North Summit Braves and were beaten bea-ten by 12 points. North Summit jumped out to an early lead and held at least a 10-point advantage throughout through-out most of the contest. The Braves finally won the game by an ample margin. The final score was 65-53. In other Friday night tilts, Provo outclassed Jordan 76-43; Carbon edged Grand Junction, 63-60; East clobbered American Ameri-can Fork 61-46; Springville beat Parowan 64-58; Lehi topped Gransville by a fair margin .and Payson edged South High by a one-point breathtaker. Other Saturday night games ended with Payson banging Fruita, Colorado 59-43 and Lehi had little trouble with Parowan, Paro-wan, 7241. According to the schedule released re-leased by Coach Jack Hill, the Vikings will host Cyprus this Thursday night, Dec. 12, at Pleasant Grove. The following night, Saturday, Satur-day, they travel for a game with the Morgan High School Class B team. |
