Utah County Fire Warden Warns About Hazards Floyd Lundell, Utah County Fire Warden, said that the time of year is again upon us when conditions of extreme fire haz-ard exist on lands along the Wasatch Front, and State For-ester Paul Sjoblom has issued a fire closure. Mr. Lundell reminds all res-idents that there shall be no open fires or trash fires of any kind, except in picnic areas and in established picnic campsites except with a permit from the County Fire Warden. These permits may be secured by calling the Highway Patrol Of-fice. The fire closure also limits smoking to within buildings and motor vehicles and to improv-ed areas including oiled roads, campgrounds, and picnic and resort areas. 25 YEARS AGO From the Files of the Review Friday, July 1, 1943 According to E. War-nic- k entertained relatives and friends last Friday night in hon-or of their 19th wedding anni-versary. 25 Years Ago Privates Dean Hunt, Ardie Adams and Lynn Peterson have returned to army duty af-ter spending furloughs with relatives and friends in Pleas-ant Grove. 25 Years Ago Miss Naomi Steel and Fred A. Keetch were married last Thursday evening at the bride's home in Lago, Idaho. 25 Years Ago The Air Force Jeeps beat the P.G. Second Ward 22-1- 1 in a Softball game played here last Saturday afternoon. The pitch-ing of Ah-- Force Rodriques was the deciding factor. P.G. Colt League Team Wins Two This past week has been a good one for the P.G. Colt team. On Monday, June 24 they played the American Fork Colts and beat them 13 to 6. Last Thursday, June 27, they played the first place team, AF Pirates, and won 2-- The Colts now have 5 wins and three losses. Next week they meet the A.F. Colts on Monday, July 8 and on Friday, July 12 they meet the Lehi team. Timps and Braves Tied for First in Pioneer League June 27 saw the Timps still in first place in the Pioneer League with a 10-- 4 win over the Hornets. Drew Major on a pop fly to first, helped the Timps win. The Braves are still hang-ing on to second place with a 12 to 7 win over the Yankees. Ron Story of the Bees got a triple and Craig Nelson really went to town with a triple and a double to help the Bees with a 18-- 4 win over the Bats. Jim Hindley of the Mus-tangs got a home run with 2 on and then a triple the next time up to help the Mustangs win 14 to 2 over the Wasps. On July 2 Jim also knocked a bases-loade- d home run and next time up another homer. Steve Gourley and Kyle Secre-ta- n both got triples, and the Mustangs beat the Bats 18-- The Wasps beat hte Bees 16-- 4 in their July 2 game. The Braves are holding on to second place with the help of a home run from Mark John-son, beating the Hornets 14-- The Timps lost their first game to the Yankees 8 to 5. The Timps and Braves are now tied for first place. The Standings: Timps 7 1 Braves 7 1 Bees 4 4 Wasps 4 4 Mustangs . 3 5 Yankees 3 5 Hornets 2 6 Timps 2 6 Games will be played next week on Tuesday and Thurs-day, July 9 and 11. Family Reunion Held At Haddock Home On June 30, the descendants of the late Wilford and Hilda Swenson Anderson met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Haddock for a family reunion. Those present were Mrs. Far-re- l Davies and three children, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Stoddard and three children, Mrs. Lillie Wheeler, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Wheeler and Joe, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Haddock and three chil-dren, Mrs Bill Wheeler and Steven Rauzi, Mr. and Mrs. Arvel Anderson, Mr .and Mrs. Vaughn VicchriUi and five chil-dren and Mr. and Mrs. Warren Anderson and Diane Kilpack. Writers League Sets Deadline for Contest Deadline for the League of Utah Writers "Original Writing Contest" is July 15 according to Bonnie Emmertson, state president of the organization. The Original Writing Contest is open to all Utah writers and those interested in entering may obtain complete rules from Ruth G. Rothe, RFD 1, Box 265, Payson, by sending a large stamped, envelope. |
