Show tons of grain for hungry game gaine birds state and local sportsmen give time and feed sportsmen and bird lovers of the valley are making a definite effort to help the game bird population survive the rigors of winter the ane state fish and game department part ment north sevier and sevier fish and game associations the vealice rifle club and a host of interested parties are doing their utmost to spread grain in in areas where the birds can get at it through game wardens elwin cloward and jess winn grain has been distributed to interested people in the county to scatter for the birds where no person has volunteered to help the wardens have done the work themselves warden winn stated that almost five ton of feed has been fed to sevier county birds the ducks and geese are especially ally hard hit because they unlike tl the pheasants cant get out and scratch for themselves he stated in the area between heppler and ford fisheries the state is feeding over three hundred geese and many more hundred ducks especially successful has been the work done by gheo dark clark and his section crew along the D R G right of way the men have cleared the snow where ever birds have congregated and scattered state donated grain rifle club helps the venice rifle club under the pushing of clifton tip anderson and M R breinholt have spread over aton a ton of grain along the underbrush of the sevier river reports leo despain volunteer men men are going out each day and will continue to do so until the weather moderates many local men have donated grain and money to buy feed which has bean been very much appreciated precia t ed ted anyone wishing to help in the project should contact leo despain kill magpies and crows warden winn stated that poison bait has been spread to kill magpies and crows with a great deal of success with most of the available feed covered with snow the pests are readily dily t taking k to the poisoned bait |
