| Show the letter box i now new port i oregon ferrua february r y 8 1948 pluto plute county news marysvale Marys vale valo utah dear staff I 1 have tor for the past year so enjoy enjoyed edthe the n newsy that I 1 am novi going to send you my new address and i also express my thanks perhaps I 1 could best express my thanks by also sharing aae a fey of my past experiences with you as aa you have so generously done withee with me I 1 was first assigned to the flathead indian reservation where I 1 worked for a while at poison montana wing ibeling later transferred to missoula where ahio I 1 have spent the past 10 months working among the college students and people of the city when first I 1 started working with the students I 1 was rather bashful about knocking on a door and being quite sure that the next 10 on each side of me were going to hear bear what I 1 had to say so eo I 1 was about to 0 propose that the church follow some ot the teaching of the book oi of mormon and help me build a tower from which to preach as did moslah in his day then I 1 would ibe be able to go up on the tower and just set up a public address system and they could all hear it at once I 1 mustered the courage and really made some very wonderful yond erfal contacts with the students maar many of the students at the college e go aro are taking law courses course a and they wao were 1 always ready e hd tor for anyone to talk to whom they thought they could lead into i an argument but there Is just so BO much more logic and the en tire aruth truth in the gospel thit that they stare defeated before they get started so long as you talk on facts taking the scripture and logical reasoning tor for your guide it has been my good DI pleasure basure to loan a good number pt the copies of the book of mormon and to use the power of my orfice office and calling in the priesthood to administer to the sick and to baptisms and confirmations tho baptisms were preformed in the bitter root river when it was not as warm asit as it could have been but had we waited I 1 on t the h io wea weather therIt it probably never W would ld have come we have had winter and august the only two seasons mountains know I 1 have now teen been transferred to new port oregon where I 1 will have the opportunity to help organize a branch of the church and got get the members to help the rest of the people see sea just what a wonderful thing the gospel oti oft desus christ really Is they have never had a church organized here and we should be able to get good response I 1 am anticipating a very wonderful year ahead and J I 1 know that my experiences will be helped in moral by the precious tits bits of happenings which the drops of ink from the pluto plute county news press will express as they occur thanks again sincerely elder dona donald id C whittaker josephs cottages box 1264 now new port oregon |
