can regret more than myself that on this great problem any division of action should occur on this side of her ber and were it simply a ques tion of men I 1 would gladly to tile the almost unanimous of my party associates as reels in party caucus but mr air speaker when principles piles that lie at the very foundation of our oui national institutions are at stake principles upon which our oui past progress and happiness were nurtured our present greatness ruts rests and upon which the preservation and perpetuity of our benign institutions depend to surrender would be cowardice and compromise would be disloyalty tor for there are principles of right that thai even the preponderance derance of majorities however large beat against as helplessly as the waves of the ocean beat
