| Show extension forester is here to urge tree planting ji 1 W 11 I 1 aney FI floyd oyd efte extension n sion forester of the utah state agricultural A g kicul college spent friday of this week in plute county in the interest of tree arbe planting and 4 H club work in forestry mr hunsaker and the extension forester spent the day visiting farmers who have planted trees in past years and gave them helpful information on the proper planting and pruning methods they also met the students of the junction schools and discussed discus sea trees and tree planting with them several of the piute diute farmers are planting trees this year and there there is a gradual tendency toward increased planting in the county since several good trees have been found to grow well here mr floyd said siberian elm and russian olive grow particularly well in various parts of the valley their rapid growth and good appearance makes themos them of exceptional value for windbreaks and wood lot plantings the forest tree nursery maintained at the utah agricultural college supplies trees to utah farmers at approximately one half the cost of production which averages two cents per tree the federal government supplies one half the m oney money necessary for this project which it makes possible to place these trees on the farms of utah at this very reasonable cost the shipping season is well under w way ay at the college and orders will be received until the first of may all farmers who are interested in securing trees for this season should see the county agent or write the extension service at a t logan |
