Show dead line nears for wheat plan in a recent communication to the farm bureau director peterson of the utah state agricultural college calls our att attention antion to the urgent need of completing the wheat allotment program and states that very likely september will be the final date for signing the individual contracts may we call your attention to the fact that thai this law was enacted with the support and strength of the state and national organizations it provides only that farmers may benefit themselves through hearty support and cooperation under provision of the bill it is only through this concentrated voluntary action on our part that these benefits may be se secured curel if our farmers are derelict in their responsibilities in this regard the entire program is in danger of failure we urge all farm bureau members to render every possible assistance to local and county committees committe ess in this matter with the view to securing the earliest possible signing up of our members another problem we should like to call to your attention is that of the interpretation of the recently enacted sales tax the question has arisen wherein farmers are required to make a return to the tax commission commiss loii and take out a license for their with the hope that the information might be helpful to you as members of this organization and farmers in general we submit the following farmers and producers are required to report and pay the sales tax in all cases where sales are made directly to the consumer this tax must be remitted to the tax commission monthly in every case where the amount of the tax exceeds 1000 per month in cases where the tax is les less than 1000 per month the report and remittance to the tax commission may be made quarterly no report is necessary and no fee indue where ahe th sales by the farmers are made to mills or dealers who are not ultimate consumers of the product and no license is required in such cases where farmers sell through roadside market facilities or where they operate trucks or wagons for distribution to the public they are required so secure license from the tax commission and pay the license fee the amount of the tax is 2 per cent of th the e retail sales value piute diute county farm bureau |
