Show plan improvement A along g route 89 the following article taken from the salina sun of a recent date will prove of interest to citizens of junction and diute piute county route 89 being one of the most traveled highways of the state and which passes through junction and the county on its way to the scenic wonders of the state is fast proving its importance and any improvements will serve to increase the travel that will pass over it bids have been asked for the construction st of about throe three quarters of a mile of concrete pavement just west of salina city in another column of tho the sun is published a notice to contractors for doing the construction work and the bids are to be opened monday september 25 the work is to include the removal of the oiled road lay a concrete pavement from the end of the present concrete road to a point just beyond the river bridge work it is announced will be started just as soon as bids are let and machinery assembled eighty men are to be employed on the job in addition to the regular trained men there will be two working shifts of 40 men each all skilled labor will be paid at the rate of 60 cents per hour while unskilled workmen will receive receive 60 50 cents per lour hour the estimated cost of construction of the highway is placed close to edwin county commissioner representing north sevier county stated slated that this project was the only one in sight in so far as road building was concerned for this year contracts for constructing three new bridges in the north end of the county will be called for soon according to commissioner it has been planned to remove the two bridges one north and the other south of redmond and one west of salina as soon as plans can be arranged the new bridges will be standard steel and concrete being used exclusively entirely new material will be used and the old bridges will likely be turned over to sevier county to be used at vantage points the cost of the three bridges is estimated at about |
