Utah mines produced In gold, silver, lead, sine and copper the enormous V1 "um of W.722,000 In 1928, a gain of 16.096,300 over 1927. The production of copper Increased approximately 84,000,000 pounds over the proceeding year. As a result of the higher market which prevailed over the latter portion of the year the value of this product was Increased nearly nine million dollars over receipts re-ceipts tor the year 1927. Utah was second In production of the red mo- ta, Arizona being first Responding to the Increased price of copper the Utah Copper, the largest larg-est producer In the state, Increased 1U production during the year around .0 per cent I t This Increase was made possible by the installation of the large electric shovels to take the place of the steam shovelg at the mine, and by increas-in increas-in gthe capacity of the mills at Magna "and Arthur. A slight Increase is noted In the output of the mines of Park City and in the Tintlc district the leading' cop- per producer, the Tlntic Standard maintained its previous record. Following is the estimate of the 1928 output of non-ferrous metals from Utah mines. Gold, 14,301,000; Silver 16.6SJ.OOO ox.; Copper 290,044,000 lbs.; Lead, 486,792,000 lbs.; Zinc, 97.034,000 lbs.
