Show AN ORDINANCE TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF RABIES PROVIDING FOR THE quarantine TINEO inspection MUZZLING AND destruction OP OF DOGS AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE be it ordained by the board of county commissioners of pluto county section 1 1 whenever the owner or any person having in castory or possession sion any d dog og shall have hale reason to believe that such a dog has rabies or has shown symptoms of rabies such owner or person shall immediately notify the board of health or its health officer to make inspection or examination of such ani mal and shall immediately confine such animal until such inspection or examination is made section 2 if it shall appear to the board of health or its health officer upon such examination or inspection that a boghas dog has rabies it shall be the duty of such officer to kill the same section 3 whenever any person shall be bitten by a do doc the owner or person having the custo custody fal y of such dog shall immediately med lately confine such d dog and keep the same confined for a perl period 0 N of teni ten days and shall notify the board of health or its health officer thereof and it shall be the duty of the board of health or its health 0 officer to make examinations of such dog within the said period often days as may be required to determine whether the dog has rabies and ifft if it shall appear upon such examinations that such dog has rabies the same shall be immediately killed section 4 whenever any animal shall be bitten by a dog having rabies the owner or person having custody or poss elsion of the animal so soo bitten itten shall upon being informed thereof either kill such animal forthwith or quarantine it and keep it tied up or confined for a of ten days daye and the board of health or r its health officer shall have power in his discretion to kill or quarantine any animal so bitten in case the owner or person having custody possession thereof fall to do iso eo immediately ar or in case base the owner oy bv person having the 06 custody thereof 11 s not beadil readily a aces bible section 5 if it aal I 1 a appear pea r to the board of health tha here is danger of the spread of rabies among dogs it shall be the duty of said board of health to make an order and anim immediately e give public anotle that all dogs must be aledor aled or confined d in such a w way ay as to prevent their being able to ta bite any other animal or person and thereupon lit ii shall be the duty of every owner pr person having the custody of any dog to fo confine or provide the same with a substantial buzzel ep proved by the board of health and to keep said dog confined or muzzled without mt eruption tion during the period covered by E the order and notice of the board of health said notice may be given by publishing the same once in a newspaper published in piute diute county or by posting in three con a bous public places in said county said d notice shall contain the order order of of board of health and shall require the muzzling or confining of all dogs within a period of not to exceed ten days from the date of publication icat io n 0 or r post posting I 1 n of such notice and to continue for such time as the board may in its discretion determine section 6 if after the giving of the notice in section 4 provided for there shall be found within this city town or county any dog running at large it shall be the duty of the health officer or other representative of the board of health to kill the same forthwith disposition of the carcasses of the dogs so BO killed shall be made by the boa board r d of health and at the expose of the city town or county section 7 every person who shall violate lat any of the provisions of this ordinance sh allbe guilty ofa misdemeanor and apon conviction thereof shall be lined fined in any sum not exceeding or by imprisonment in the county jail not exceeding sixty days or by both such fine find and imprisonment sections SectIon 8 all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed section 9 this ordinance shall take effect ten days af after ter its first publication or posting ALMA SAVAGE chairman DANIEL DAY GARFIELD JAMES corn com WH wi LUKE clerk approved april 3 1916 |
