Show THE DEER TRAIL important strike Is reported TO A TON eighteen hundred feet under the mountain averaging twelve feet in thickness often swelling to 30 and 40 feet people highly elated from authentic sources it is ia learned thata that a moil important strike of high grade ore was made in the deer trail trai on about the dinst and to better illustrate the importance of the latest development it may be well to describe the conditions existing in the deer trail the mine occupies a semi bedded qu quartzite artzi re limestone contact which dips slightly downward as it enters the base of deer trail mountain owing to the slight descent it was found impracticable to push the tunnel in the contact without the installation of a hoist therefore the late mr 0 J salisbury of salt lake caused a tunnel to be driven westerly in the quartzite directly beneath the great bedded vein from the lower tunnel upraises up raises have been driven to intersections with the ore body and which in the process of extraction will obviate the use of timbers the extraction of ore will doubtless begin at the surface and continued westward permitting the ground to cave in as the ore is removed and dropped down the several upraises up raises or the working tunnel in quartzite quatt zite is now in about 1800 feet lind and as the vein bemb vemb Is dropping ilig slightly hily the working tu anel Twill will no doubt eventually intersect the ore body from the face of the mountain the upper workings are continuously in ore of value of six to eight dollars per ton and will doubtless average twelve feet in thickness often swelling to 30 and 40 feet in thickness at the extreme end of tunnel or about 1800 feet under the mountain some si six x to seven feet of ore running from to per ton has been encountered and is opening up in the most satisfactory rn manner anner at the death of the late mr air salisbury his sons took charge of work on the deer trail and have nearly continuously kept a small force tit at work driving tunnels levels and laterals literals late rals until there are now several miles of openings and nearly every foot in good milling ore and the chieftain Chief tai n gladly congratulates the salisbury brothers on this latest addition to the value of the deer trail and the citizens of marysvale Marys vale and piute diute county on this added source of future prosperity |
