in somo some localizes loca lites the basalt caps the rhyolite but in a general way it merges so gradually into the rhyolite that no line oade of mar kation is visible with tho the great sevier Sev ler fault and extending westerly the earths earth s crust was profoundly broken or fissured along a libenow lih line enow now represented by clear greek canyon and intersected Intersect eff and crossed by the great fracture which once extended from southwest of marysvale Marys vale along tho the present apex of the range through gold mountain and onward to ther the into tho the Pa avant livant those principal fissures including innumerable parallel fissures were openings for the upward flow of rhyolite and kindred eruptive material prior to the complete solidifying of the rhyolite the clear creek fracture reopened and basaltic material was forced up through the partially congealed rhyolite and which explains the blending of the line of contact beginning a short distance north
