Show news from our people in the armed forces RULON PARAMORE IS AWARDED AIR MEDAL an eighth air force bomber station england staff sergeant rulon L C paramore Pa 19 tail gunner on a 1317 13 17 flying fortress of the bombardment group has been awarded the air medal for meritorious achievement while participating in eighth air force bombing at tacks in vital german industrial tar algots argots ar gots and on nazi airfields S supply dumps and gun em placements in the support of advances by allied ground forces on the continent the present presentation ution was made by coll col karl truesdell jr of washington D C group commander paramore is a beber of the fortress group which led the first american bombing attack on targets in berlin and which was cited by the president for its outstanding bombing assault on railroad marshalling yards at munster germany rulon is the son of mr air and mrs golden Para paramore who are at present residing in cedar city from pet kenneth in in france came the following letter a few weeks ago dear claude in the past few months I 1 have thought of you many times as well as everyone else in carowan parowan and paragonah Para gonah and there just seems to be something about the people at home that no other race or class can equal they are all going about their daily tasks in happiness and believe me it make me very happy that they cant look over thousands of miles of water and bloody soil to see what is actually taking place this very minute in europe I 1 thank you very much for making it possible for me to receive the times and I 1 assure you it is greatly appreciated other than personnel correspondence en ce it is our only means of receiving any news from home I 1 read it over and over again constantly searching tor for something that I 1 read however at the same time I 1 am waiting for the next one im sure that the people at home donit dondit fully realize just how much the mail means to the boys on the front lines and my personal opinion Is that people in general are not writing enough letters I 1 will attempt to tell you just a few things about the beautiful country of france I 1 have been here some time now and have learned to like the people and become somewhat acquainted with the quaint old villages the narrow streets with old buildings the beautiful running rivers the horse honse drawn carriages and the beautiful mademoiselles are arc indeed typical of france the country is very unique in general and has definitely proven to be very interesting te there are many more stories that could be related but that like many other more precious things will have to 11 wait it until the end of the war in conclusion I 1 would thank you again for the paper which I 1 enjoy tell everyone hello for me sincerely kenneth the letter was written on german stationary from private victor R matheson we received the following letter recently dear claude I 1 have been going to write you and the people of par wan to tell you how much I 1 appreciate getting the times there is nothing better belter than to hear from the old home town I 1 want to thank you and all the good people who made it possible to send the times to the boys and girls in the service I 1 hear that all appreciate it very much I 1 have read of quite a few of the boys from home being in new guinea I 1 seen any of them since I 1 got here I 1 do get to see two paragonah Para gonah boys quite often I 1 also see some from cedar it sure is nice to run into someone from home I 1 am getting the paper quite often now although it is quit old it is new to me I 1 get gelt it about one month late j I 1 cant say as a like it here it is nothing like good old utah I 1 dont think many of the boys do like it here I 1 wish you had some of this rain in this country as there sure is a lot going to waste I 1 thank you again for the paper as it sure helps out a lot to know what is going on you can tell the people hello for me and that I 1 am well and doing fine VICTOR MATHESON |
