Show WHEN WE RETURN by kenneth kenn eth paragonah Para gonah soldier with U S army in europe the day will not be too far off when large groups of arr american leigan soldiers will return home many will be discharged and returned to civilian lift this brings up many problems however one stands out above all and warrants careful consideration it is the responsibility of the discharged how many of us have said at one time 0 or another when I 1 return to hell with this or that or 1 I would not know that so and so etc which is only a natural reaction to strict discipline but how many have stopped to think that discipline is no army invention v antion we have discipline in civilian life although it is note laid down in ARs As a matter of fact we learn about discipline from the minute we are born bom first subconsciously later on consciously and our parents try hard to teach us the right and wrongs of life in some cases there is failure but the majority abides by the written or unwritten laws which are nothing else than discipline those who cannot adjust themselves finally become a burden to the community and end up in a sad state of affairs the american soldier when he returns has a definite responsibility he was part of the biggest crusade in history to reestablish establish re liberty and freedom in a partly enslaved world however with the test restoration oration of law and order our task is not finished we fought together shared problems alike happy moments with liberated people going wild with joy also disappointments of which there were many the outstanding feat is that we did it together un united it for one purpose if we could fight together like a large family there is no reason whey we cannot live together like one when we joined the army we had to forget what we were in civilian life and did our duty to the best of our ability when we return to civilian life we have to forget that we were in the army as well as our disappoint disappointments me ants n nour our dished so fervently with one exception never forget that weare we are members of a great country and that we have to stick together in civilian life to prevent anyone from ever again messing up the peace to come we should return to civilion life with ill feeling toward none and do our little share in balding up a prosperous future like we did our part in smashing the axis in the army everything was done under pressure but in civilian li life fe we have to use a different kind of pressure the faith in ourselves in in god and our country should be the driving force in all our future dealings in civilian life this may sound a bit high to many of us but in winning the war we have only finished the first part of the struggle the whole world looked toward the united states for deliverance in those dark days gone by their prayers were answered and we came to the rescue using all the forces we could muster the whole world has faith in us now we have to sho show w that we can be leaders in securing ng the peace and it is up to us to demonstrate on that their faith in us are justified the problems to be tackled are many but they are not we all like to lead a life blessed with happiness there is no set pattern which constitutes hap happiness but it can only be achieved achieve dif if we are willing to assume the re responsibilities bili ties required of a good citizen do not let us forget that the soldier er of today will be the guardian of the peace tomorrow |
