of cli those th ose who offer themselves them selve for public service As a candidate ar for reelection election re to the office of district judge I 1 submit th this statement of my beliefs as to the duties and obligations sl of one who is permitted by the people to hold that office justice in a democracy is the fundamental basis andico and object of law A judge should keep that principle constando constantly in mind he should be qualified by experience and study pa of the law so that he will not be confused or misled by theories bai t or arguments which do not square with justice commons common sense and truth pe judges should act without fear of criticism and without consideration of self interest they should take no thought of personal advantage or disadvantage they should never allow themselves to be influenced in their decisions by partisan political influences t under the law whether rich weak k or powerful r 1 all men have equal rights to justice poor or wea common citizen or government official tic courts should function with promptness for delayed decisions often result in failure of justice s judges should be diligent and should give prompt study and careful attention to all causes submitted for their decision hn courts should function openly judges should not allow private communications to be made sei nor secret influences to be exerted in connection with pending litigation cost of government is a heavy burden and court expense should therefore be reduced to the minimum consistent with efficient administration of justice e I 1 believe that patriotism as well as religion and morality cry out against extreme partisanship te ithac hatred of a fellow citizen or candidate has no place in a democracy that we should W not allow partisan enthusiasm to override sound judgement jud gement or faith in humanity that when an im election has been held we should be quick to put aside partisan strife and cooperate with ein lecter officials in carrying on the functions of government SIP I 1 again desire to express appreciation to voters who have supported me for public office in p the past I 1 invite their continued support if they find my record such as to justify support if 11 reelected I 1 shall strive to discharge the duties of district judge with the utmost of wisdom fairness and understanding of the law of which I 1 am capable if mr jensen the candidate of the republican party is elected he will I 1 am sure strive to do likewise and I 1 shall urge the members W of the bar and the people to respect and loyally sustain him af
