Show social planned for departing A social and dance will be held next monday evening in the west ward chapel and recreation in honor the the boys who are leaving that week for the various branches of the armed service A program will be held in the chapel starting at 9 which will be followed by dancing in the recreation hall and all in in change of the parowan carowan service mens wives club which is very desirous of having a good attendance the program will consist of the advance of the colors prayer by W L adams three numbers by the vi victory ato ry singers a talk by president oscar hulet of summit a trombone solo iby by newell B weight and a reading by lea ward this will be followed by the retirement of the colors and the closing prayer offered by anna gurr rawson nine inductees are going from iron ron 11 county on september of this group two are from parowan carowan Pa rowan lyle davenport marsden and david both of whom will be honored at mondays social those from other parts of the county are john paul williard wood armstrong and two japanese tei shire tay yamaguchi and merio utana of cedar city hanks austin barton of paragonah Para gonah clifton J hulet of newcastle and lamar iverson lund of modena two transfers into the county will also report with the above group robert levi muir from nevada and william otto marton from california melburn barton who went in and passed his examination for entry in to the merchant marine last week and who is to report for training week after lext will also be honored at the farewell as will eugene orton enlisted in the navy and went examination last monday after passing he was sent home to await his call hanks barton mentioned above was one of three who went in from iron county the fh first st of the th e wee week k for pre induction physical examinations and volunteered for induction which is the reason he is going in with the sept inductees others who went in for their pre induction physicals were claud I 1 L robinson of parowan carowan and archie clair bulloch of cedar city CAY one other clyde lowman should have gone in with the above three but was transferred to california where he is employed for his examination the clerk of the local selective service board received a commini cation from general hershey on wednesday morning stating that in the future calls are to lb be filled out of the 18 to 26 year old group with the only ones older that that subject to call being those who will not get in and stay in regular essential la emp employment loy ment |
