Show FARM SECURITY HOLDS COUNCIL MEETING the iron county farm security council met recently to discuss the farm security program as it has been carried allt oi in iron county and to make plans for the coming year the farm security program according cot ding to newel F county RR RK supervisor is a program to help the farmer help himself loans are arc made to farm families who can not get credit from any other source to enable them to buy tile the tools livestock seed and other equipment quip ment necessary to carry un on farming operations the loans carry interest at the rate of 3 per cent I 1 and 5 per cent the 3 per cent loans being made when several farmers buy equipment rent pastures or buy purebred breeding sires cooperatively erat ively the farm security program is also an education program with a special effort being made to get farmers to plan their farm and home management more carefully as well as to keep careful accounts on their operations it is the policy of the farm security to have its borrowers produce as much of their living needs and feed for livestock on their own farms as possible mr reports that at the present time there are active borrowers in iron county with 26 loans entirely paid out between 1935 and november 1940 was loaned with being paid back many of the loans are not due yet so that 37 per ceric cent repayment is a good showing especially when the fact is considered that no loans were made except to farmers who could not get credit elsewhere committee members in attendance at the council meeting were lyman sevy grant hunter harriet matheson rulon knell J M urie harvey adams carl crawford lamont E and woud wood urie supervisors newel F and nona al goodson were also in attendance mrs bill elliott came home from salt lake city with mr elliott last week end after spending the summer there mr elliots elliote Elli mother mrs mr vera petersen also came down with them to visit for a while mr and mrs harold mason and a party of friends of los angeles arrived here during the week to hunt deer in the parowan carowan mountains |
