Show TAXPAYER COMPARES I 1 LEVIES FOR 1938 1939 the sept nov UTAH TAXPAYER which is just off the press is of special interest to officials and taxpayers alike for it is the only place where the comparative levies tor for 1938 and 1939 lor each of the taxing units of the state stale can be found it is to be noted that of the incorporated cities and towns 34 made increases in their local levies while 27 made reductions and made no change oz 0 me ine 29 coun 1 ties 11 increased their levies while 12 made decreases from last year I 1 i and the remainder no change ten i ot the school districts made iti ini creases in their levies 7 made reductions duct ions and 23 remained the same as for last year I 1 i attention is called to the fact that there are 25 communities in I 1 the state with total tax levies be I 1 tween 50 and 60 mills such a load is is unbearable the most noteworthy note wonny change tn in I 1 the levy schedules lor for the year is the increase in state levies thu i general lund fund levy which has been i held in abeyance during the last three years was restored and I 1 with the 95 mill increase for state I 1 school fund levies the increase ai 1 I mounted to 24 mills I 1 all told approximately one mil I 1 lion ilon dollars increase in the pro li ity tax returns is anticipated I 1 I 1 this despite a reduction of nearly I 1 au in the assessed valuation of 0 the state which means it is pointed out that the property remain me ing must bear a burden the taxpayers are requested d to dissatisfaction in in their air nake make 1 any lax load manifest man idest when the budgets are being considered for th that at is is the time their criticism will do some good |
