Show PAROWAN OBSERVES ath IN PROPER MANNER the people of parowan carowan observed the ath of july quietly and with the entire days program well fitted to the occasion the various events were carried out substantially as was announced last week I 1 commencing with the day break salute parade patriotic meeting sports ports and dances the parade led by the marshal of the day and the high school sand band was the best held here for many years with many of the cites business houses church and civic organizations entering beautiful floats the miniature parade put on by the children was very good also parade prizes were awarded to the e following floats utah float isk american legion 2nd and and daughters of the pioneers 3rd ard with several others rating honor we lc mention in the miniature group the prizes were awarded to mr and mrs vernon heaps grand childr children erl dressed as uncle sam and goddess of liberty in a flot float drawn by donkeys spencer lemon and jerilyn orton respectively the prize for the comic entry ent to parley jensen jansen and he ivell 11 deserved it A large and appreciative audience was in attendance at the public meeting which was held in the he east ward chapel and the program given was well received by all A large e crowd came out to enjoy joy the sports program of races stunts ants boxing matches and other conte contests s ts during the afternoon li la I 1 marr rr jensens hensens Jen sens dog drew the bi big gest pst ovation of the afternoon far for its act two good softball games Iv were played rePlayed one between the transients w who ho have come here to pick P pe peas as and a group of town boys ys W with ith the latter group wine bing and one between the single and d married ladies of the town the days events ended with a big 8 dance in the brown derby which aph was crowded almost bed capacity by the dancers |
