Show james C pendleton Is buried at denver funeral services for or james calvin pendleton whose death was reported last week were held in the olinger mortuary in denver on monday they were conducted by the L D S missionaries of that glission and the program was as follows opening song though deepening trials prayer by elder alder song 1 I know that my aly redeemer lives talk mr air skinner scout executive of the denver council talk by eldea elde stevens song jeus jesus lover of my soul benediction by lady missionary A short service at the graveside was conducted by the industrial lodge of which he was a member as is customary and as members tiled filed past the casket each of 0 them placed a white carnation on it the grave was then dedicated iby by elder of the L D S church church two song of mr pendleton Pendle toa louis and clarence toge ner 4 with wilh his tour four brothers warren john woodruff Woo drutt and rulon acted as poll pall bearers the deceased was born in paro won wan august 1 1888 a son of freeman W and annie henderson pendleton and was a resident ot of this city until 17 years ago when he and his family moved to denver where he be was employed by the D R G railroad he Is survived by his wife lottle lottie richards pendleton two daughters edythe 23 amy 15 and two sons louis 20 clarence 17 and by his father P F W pendleton of this community also the following brothers and sisters mrs airs nora stubbs mrs airs ida halterman and mabel pendleton of parowan carowan Pa rowan mrs celia van buren of long beach california mrs belle jakeman of salt lake city utah rulon pendleton of cedar city utah his early life was characterized by hla his love tor for the out of doors much inch of this time was spent at what Is known as the hoosier ranch where he acquired a deep sympathy for the beauties of nature and a knowledge of the great out doors that prepared him tor for a splendid service which he rendered in scouting during his residence in denver lie ile completed the public schools of iron county and was granted a scholarship because of his high standing to the murdock academy while attending that institution along with his other subjects he studied blacksmithing and it was ft aith ath this training that lie he and his brother warren carried on the blacksmithing business in this community tor for a number ot of years later he engaged in the contracting business and in connection with his brother in law built a number ot of homes in cedar city and vicinity later ho he engaged in fit the plumbing business and tanning farming in fit this community and was so 0 o employed until lie ho accepted his position with the railroad with whom he has been employed ever since until about a year ago when his health became so eo impaired he was forced to give up any strenuous work shortly atter after he moved to denver he became active in the boy scout movement and was elected leader of one of the scout cubs which is a part dart of the scout program that deals with the younger boys from 9 to 12 ono one ot of the outstanding articles made under his direction by the cub boys was a tepee tent which was made so well and so appropriately decorated that it was used throughout the denver council on loll 1011 all advancement ceremonials which required a prop proper er setting f tor or their services |
