Show CHANGES recommended IN conservation PROGRAM recommendations lor for the 1938 agricultural conservation pro program for utah as drawn up at the utah state agricultural college last week at a three day conference of farmers and representatives of 0 agencies serving farmers were announced this week by director william peterson petersen in chargo charge of the AAA tor for the state slate hugh L adams chairman of 0 the iron county agricultural conservation association represented deaver beaver and iron counties at the the con conference conferee feren listed seven new practices for or next year approved of 0 certain phases of the 1937 program modified certain provisions and eliminated limina ted others that did not conform to the desires of the representatives present following are the new practices that will be suggested to the officials at washington D C to be included in the 1938 program for utah 1 we feel mat we are justified in initiating a program ot of old tre tree removal and compensating orchard ista tor for this practice 2 we recommend that the irrigation program be approved on a statewide state wide basis 3 we recommend a payment tor for the application ot of barnyard manure and tor for the application of nitrogen to orchards 4 we recommend that consideration be given to the irrigation of orchards on proper contour 5 we recommend that more consideration be given to the consideration of 0 non diversion farms the allotment re of 0 privileges that they might earn their maximum payments 6 because the popular sen sentiment timen t seems to indicate that we go back to the 30 percent and 70 percent division we recommend further consideration bo be given this matter before a determination is made 7 we recommend that in the case of 0 sugar beets a modification an and d lib liberalizing era 1 i 0 of f t the h e r rulings u ing b be e zan ig rid aba in made a de to p permit e r te tenants na n t s a and share r croppers to receive payments due to operating no soil conserving acres |
