Show WATER regulation VIOLATORS GO FREE three persons charged with using water from the city system for sprinkling titter hours and a fourth tor for sprinkling without having procured a ticket and also after hours were treed freed by justice bayles when they were brought before him on monday evening they were J C mitchell Mit cheil evelyn eve yn lowder nellie B green and john T mitchell Mit cheil complaints against them were signed by joseph Ji denson enson special police appointed by the city to check up tip on water violations mr genson benson testified that thai at saturday morn ing he li found john T mitchell Mit cheil sprinkling and asked him if he had a ticket ile he answered that he was not sure and was told to turn oft off the water until he got one ile he said lie would when his halt half hour was up the sprinkling hours tor for that section of town are between bet cen six and eight a ni i from there mr benson said he went over and found J C mitchells hose running and reminded him it was after time then lie he went on oil and found mrs lowder sprinkling and as he looked across the street he could see mrs Math esons hose running the latter testified that she was tilling filling a cooler rather than sprinkling the lawn but the officers story at least raised a doubt the other three confessed to the violations giving one excuse or another the justice after hearing their stories is reported to have said you are all guilty ot of violating the ordinance and should be reprimanded but in each case I 1 find no cause 0 of action the special police and the city marshal were not at all pleased w with ith the way the cases terminated a and 11 r the latter proceeded after they w were ere over to tell the justice how he felt about it in no uncertain terms he vowed never to bring a case casa tor for similar violation in that court again ga it so long as the present justice presides |
