blood of a human but rather that 0 of a lamb these two circumstances coupled with the failure ot of the searchers to find tand any trace ot of the missing boy are responsible for or the growing feeling that he has gone out our ot of the country rather than met with toul foul play or serious accident As a ot this feeling the hu hunt at has been practically cally abandoned tho thol itSU igl his griet grief stricken ii parents arents and para gonah people who know him best refuse to accept the popular theory that he has played a trick to mislead while he be made his getaway get away though most ot of the six or eight hundred people who have participated in the hunt have withdrawn a few are still scouring the country and will continue to do so according to present plans for several days yet unless the mystery Is sooner solved stories of the whole affair are so conflicting in some respects respect that we shall not attempt to give details but the main facts in the case are substantially ly these marlon marion robb about 18 or 19 years old and a brother about twelve bons of mr and mrs airs A D robb of para gourli were at their fathers sheep camp in ill buckskin valley east ot buckhorn caring for a band ot of sheep qa on saturday morning near ten the boys se separated oed the older one to go east to look after the sheep and the younger one to go west across the valley for water tor for the camp or something of the sort they were to meet at the camp sometime later and when the older brother failed to show up the other went out in search of him between a quarter and half a m mile ile east of camp he found the brothers horse and saddle and near by his hat and then thea his gun and pocket kniat two blood saturated hand ker chieves and a small piece of his underwear also saturated with blood where the latter were found was also found a track where here he had sat down and immediately in front ot of the track a pool ot of blood bushes around the spot were also covered with spurts of blood and so was one side of his saddle on finding those evidences the smaller shouted repeatedly and made a brief search of the immediate v vicinity c and then started tor for help at buckhorn he told martin lang what had happened and the latter hurried into paragonah Para Par gonah to spread the alarm As soon as possible a number ot of men went from there and the search corn com nie nien ced examination ot of the gun showed that the only cartridge in it had been tired fired and the theory on which the search started was that the boy had accidentally shot himself and seriously wounded had become panic stricken or probably delirious and had wandered off falling failing tor to find any trace ot of him more help was recruited and the a number um ot of searchers increased until on oil monday bionday and tuesday there were from paragonah Para gonah parowan carowan Pa rowan cedar city beaver panguitch richfield and other communities even as tar far north as salt lake city upwards ot of live jive hundred men on the ground at one time literally combing the country but to no avail the best dogs in this locality and men who were experienced perien ced in tracking were rushed to the scene and finally governor dern was appealed to and he sent beat in a blood hound from salt lake city but it exhibited no interest in the watter Som sometime etline tuesday morning the searchers found a lamb with its throat apparently cut with a knife in a thick clump ot of brush there were no signs ot of any struggle no blood under it and its position gave the impression that it had been tossed into the brush then a sample of the blood found at the spot where the gun and knife were was sent to the state chemist and a lepor report t was received by wire that it was the bloch 0 of f a lamb iamb this report confirmed the opinion 0 of f local physicians who had expressed tile the opinion that it was waa not hu human man blood until that report came on wednesday about noon the search continued unabated men tramp tramping ing back and forth part of 0 the time with some semblance of organization and part of the time without business men professional men boy scouts farmers everybody left their work to tramp the hills bills until they were nigh exhaustion and then resting returned again and again food was rushed to scene as aa fast as aa possible but the problem of feeding so large a group developed into a big one the father grief stricken and exhausted and the mother prostrate with grief are nearly to collapse under the suspense and though they are reported to have said they would sooner have found him dead than to learn that he had schemed to deceive in order to get away showed elsable signs of hope and reviving spirit as aa the evidence supporting the latter theory multiplied there have been any number of theories advanced as to what has probably become ot of him and countless stories of persons answering his description or that might possibly have been him seen elsewhere and any number of motives suggested tor for lila ills leaving or having III met C t wilh wiell foul play but alter after live days of constant searching the mystery seems no nearer solution than it did when the alarm alarin was first given until be is found dead or alive it will never be known know what has happened to him and even finding him might not solve the mystery 0 |
