Show WATER MUST LEAKY TAPS MUST BE OR SERVICE WILL discontinue DECISION OF CITY DADS SITE AGREED UPON TOR FOR NEW CAMP GROUND OTHER BUSINESS transacted AT REGULAR MAY MEETING that the wasting of 0 water from the city water system through leaky taps and careless and improper use must stop was decided upon by the city courell at its regular may alay meeting on tuesday ev evening ining the matter was brought up by mayor adams who said that complaints complain 0 had reached him that the upper part ot of town had been without water on several occasions as a result ot of extravagant use and waste in other parts after brief consideration the council passed a motion that the city marshall marshal notify people with leaky taps that it if same are not repaired to prevent the waste ot of water service will be discontinued until such time as they shall be repaired aid aai the service charge paid tor for turning the water to them again A report from councilman whitney who was chairman of 0 the committee appointed some time blues to locate a site lor for a camp ground tor for tourists was to the effect that mr jasper cart right bax i tx pressed a willingness to turn his lot at the head ot of main alain street the john H brown corner opposite wm win H clymans Ly mans over to the city for that purpose until such time as he is ready to take it over and improve and maintain same as a privately operated tourist camp the report also stated that mr air cartright will reimburse the city for whatever improvements they place there in the way ot of lights water etc and that mr john H brown had bad proffered to supply fuel and to keep the grounds in condition for what he could get through a nominal charge to tourists councilman whitney stated too that the carowan parowan auto co had been interviewed concerning the establishing ot of a camp ground on their property adjoining the garage but that they interested though mr george chilton and mr roy koy hyatt had both Anti intimated mated that they were seriously considering private camps As the cartright proposition was the only definite one and seemed the most feasible the council ln in strutted ted the committee which includes the city marshall with mr whitney to complete arrangements with cartright and brown and to take steps to move the tourist camp car ap to that thai site mr air clarence richards met with the council to request some action on ite it part to prevent the piling of gravel from field streams into the streets which ho he stated detracts from the value of the adjoining property after some discussion the marshall was instructed to see gee that when gravel grav el is scraped front from those ditches it be removed to places in the street where it will lie ie a bene continued to page 4 0 WATER WASTING MUST BE STOPPED continued irom from first page tit fit and improve the street rather th than an I 1 obstructing same mr richards complained too as a representative ot of the fields that people are using the field streams as garbage dumps and requested some action to prevent it the council ordered that notice be published warning people to lo desist and that future violations he be prosecuted under the city ordinance against such practice in this connection too the city marshall was aped appointed anted to work with the streets and sidewalks side walks committee of which whitney Wb itney marsden and bay lea are the members to locate another garbage dump and to notify the public I 1 ic of its whereabouts and to post notices on all roads leading out of the city against the dumping of garbage along those highways A request from the rambouillet association for the refund of taxes paid by them on the property where the barn is located in accordance with a previous agreement was considered si and deferred until the action or of a former council bouru be looked the city attorney was waa instructed to collect all notes due the city for or tines fines and otherwise the streets and sidewalks committee and the city marshall were authorized to designate places in the city where broken bricks etc from the old school house may be dumped to till fill up depressions and to supervise the placing of that stuff this latter action resulted from a request by those who are removing the building that such places be designated some other minor matters were considered and disposed of and the claims allowed before the meeting adjourned two members of the city council marsden and bayles were not D t present and also the city recorder or the h e minutes being taken by W W mitchell who Is acting as his deputy |
