Show ArceRowley to exhibit California artists Manuel de Arce and Mona Rowley will combine their drawings and ceramics for Park City's Kimball Art Center Little Gallery exhibit March 6 through March 29. De Arce's current technique tech-nique involves the use of colored pencils on a completely complet-ely white surface. His recent southwestern desert scenes are characterized by enlarg ed images of nature in trie foreground. The national parks of southern Utah and the desert scenes of Palm Springs are among his favorite subjects. The artist has been described as a philosophic painter and a realistic artist. "I incorporate incorpor-ate landscapes with my fantasies--my own interpre-- interpre-- tation of reality," he has said. The Spanish artist has lived in the United States for 15 years. He has studied in Madrid, Paris and Hamburg. His work has been exhibited in Argentina, France, Germany, Ger-many, Spain, Venezuela and throughout the United States. St-ates. In March, 1982, de Arce showed his work at the Kimball Art Center's Main Gallery. His work has also appeared in Architectural Digest. Mona Rowley will be exhibiting her ceramics with de Arce's drawings. Rowley is best known for her-handbuilt her-handbuilt ceramics, most of which are bisque fired and luminescent in color. Some of Rowley's work incorporates incorpor-ates the use of turquoise and other semi-precious stones. Following a recent visit to southern Utah, Rowley began be-gan creating sculptured units resembling rock formations. Rowley is originally from Kansas. She received her B.A. degree in fine arts from Kansas State University. Rowley is currently living in the Palm Springs desert area. . .... The artist has shown her work at the Palm Springs Desert Museum and at the Vanderbilt Gallery in Palm Springs. She and de Arce recently exhibited their artwork art-work together at the Nimbus Gallery in Dallas, Texas. Utah's David Fernandez will also exhibit his drawings and ceramics in the Kimball Art Center's Main Gallery March 6 through March 31. There will be an opening reception for the three artists March 6 from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Kimball Art Center's Little Gallery. The public is invited. |
